Friday morning at about 8:40 on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com, Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles on his radio program will have as his special guest Steve Davis, the lead architect from Shive-Hatterly on the jail project, and a representative of the Dent County Sheriff’s Department. They will be talking about the proposed jail project as well as county business. They will accept phone calls during the program from the public if you have a question at 573-729-6659.

The 100-Acre Wood Road Rally is back with 54 entries expected to participate in the race this year. This year the race will start at Lion's Park in Potosi on Friday with the Parc Expose & Welcome Ceremony to begin at 12:30 and lasting until 1:45 when the first stage begins. There are four spectator locations for the Potosi to Steelville leg of the race. The vehicle service is set for Steelville City Park from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The race will end Friday night at the Steelville School around 8:35 pm. The Salem leg of the race will start at 8:30 am Saturday morning on 4th Street with the Parc Expose & Welcome. The race is set to start at 10:00 am. There are four spectator locations with two of them being used twice. There are two service times for this race both will be held at the Dent County Commons, one will be held from 12:10 pm to 1:40 pm, the other will be from 3:25 pm to 4:55 pm. The finish line celebration is schedule for 8:30 Saturday night at the Dent County Commons. The public is invited to join in the festivities, see the cars up close and meet the teams at the Parc Expose each day. Spectators are also welcome at the service sessions at the Steelville City Park Friday and at The Commons on Saturday. There is no admission charge for any of these events. The Salem R-80 Board of Education will conduct the March meeting tonight at the district administrative offices boardroom beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and communications, Superintendent John McColloch will update the Board on Summer School 2017, and there will be a health insurance and budget update. Principals from the William Lynch Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School and Senior High will give reports on various happenings and events at each of the schools. In new business, the Board will set an organizational meeting date and March regular meeting dates. The Board will then approve the MSBA policy service agreement and consider a bus lease. Following resignations, the Board will then vote to go into closed session for the purpose of discussing personnel and real estate. The March meeting of the Salem R-80 Board of Education is open to the public.

Are you curious about how the Missouri Department of Conservation’s George O. White State Forest Nursery near Licking operates? Want to see how nursery staff grow, store, and ship millions of tree seedlings each year? The Conservation Department invites the public to an open house on Saturday, April 1st, at the nursery with tours by appointment from 9:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon. The nursery is located just north of Licking on Shafer Road. To reserve a tour time, call the nursery at (573) 674-3229. Space is limited to call early. The tours will take guests behind the scenes through the seedling beds, sorting room, cold storage room, and more. Guests can also learn about Missouri’s native trees and plants, enjoy fishing demonstrations at the nursery’s three-acre lake, meet Smokey Bear, and chat with Missouri’s conservation experts. Free hot dogs, chips, and cookies will be served throughout the day. The nursery offers a variety of low-cost native tree and shrub seedlings for reforestation, windbreaks, erosion control, wildlife food and cover, and other purposes. The nursery provides mainly one-year-old bare-root seedlings with sizes varying by species. Orders are accepted through April 15, and supplies are limited. Healthy Dent County’s 6th annual “Girls Night Out” event will be held on Thursday, March 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory. Participating exhibitors will bring unique products and services of interest to women. Bring your girlfriends for an evening of pampering, shopping and eating.  There is a $5.00 admission fee and admission is limited to all women and girls 12 years of age and older. Bring in a canned good or non-perishable food item for a chance to win a $300 Amazon Gift Card, $150 Amazon Gift Card and a $50 Amazon Gift Card.  One ticket per item, the more you donate, the more your chances increase to win the gift cards. The Cardinals lost to the Twins with a final score of 0-8 on Wednesday. The St. Louis Cardinals will face Minnesota today.

The Royals lost to the White Sox with a final score of 3-7 on Wednesday. The Kansas City Royals will have a split squad game today facing San Diego in one game and the Seattle Mariners in the other.

Rickard Rakell and Ryan Getzlaf scored goals to give the Anaheim Ducks a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night at the Honda Center. The St. Louis Blues will be in San Jose to face the Sharks tonight at 9:00 on KSMO Radio.

OBITUARIES     [TOP]

Funeral services for Margaret Opal Privett of Salem, age 78, will be held today at 12:00 noon at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Corinth Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Corinth Cemetery.

Funeral Mass for Susan Elizabeth (Arthur) Dunn of Rolla, age 69, will be held Friday morning at 10:00 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. Prayer service will be today at 4:30 with visitation to follow from 5:00 to 7:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Rhea Cemetery.

A graveside service for Joanne Love Triplett of El Segundo, California, age 84, will be held at 1:00 Sunday afternoon at the Berry Hill Cemetery in Salem. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of Salem.

Memorial services for Ronald Lee Inman of St. James formerly of Salem, age 76, will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of St. James.
