The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Thursday morning in the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report, District I Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2430 and 5600, while chip and seal repair would occur at various locations. He went on to say that on Tuesday he attended the South Central Missouri Community Action Agency in Winona and that the agency has funds available for utility assistance, home repairs and weatherization. For information contact Sarah Givens at (573) 729-3500, extension 10. Purcell noted that on Wednesday he attended the Meramec Regional Development Corporation meeting and that the Corporation is facilitating loans through local banks, plus SBA 504 loans are available. Information can be obtained by calling Maria Bancroft at (573) 265-2993. District II Commissioner Gary Larson reported that grading was being done on Dent County Roads 4283 and 2500, a man was cutting brush on county road 2083, and that materials would be added to county road 3300. He added that work was continuing on the chain replacement on a spreader box. Presiding Commissioner DarrellSkiles commented the county office holders have done a good job staying within or under budget for the year. However, next year has the potential to be a much more difficult year fiscally as the county has a major trial coming up, several elections, and probably an update of the 911 system equipment. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that bills were being reviewed and would be paid, while office holders are continuing to complete and turn in their budgets. Jack Todd of Victor Furnace was in to continue the discussion of the heating issues in the Courthouse. Bids were opened for a 1999 and newer used pup trailer. The only bid received was from Montgomery Sales of Montgomery City, Missouri for $14,500. Commissioner Purcell said that he doesn’t want the super single tire arrangement on the trailer that was bid and would prefer a dual wheel setup. The Commission will check with Montgomery Sales about possibly changing the axles to duals or will re-bid for a pup trailer meeting that specification. Sheriff Rick Stallings and Deputy Justin Roderman were in to update the Commissioners on what they had learned about the 911 equipment since the service agreement with CenturyLink has expired and will not be renewed because the equipment is essentially obsolete and un-repairable. It was estimated that the equipment is 20 to 25 years old. Deputy Roderman said that he was still in the process of obtaining information. The Commissioners agreed that they would like for a CenturyLink engineer to attend a meeting and provide information. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 in the Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
