The Dent County Sheriff's Office responded to two calls last week that ended up being homicides on Thursday and Friday. The first call came in Thursday, December 1st at about 8:14 in the evening. The call was received by the Dent County Sheriff’s Office from a male subject who was later identified as 55-year old Fridtjov Severud who stated that his friend was shot. Deputies with the Dent County Sheriff’s Office and a trooper with Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the 800 block of County Road 4060 in Dent County. Upon arrival, officers entered the residence and encountered a white male, later identified as 41-year old Michael R. Gehm with an apparent gun shot wound to the face and no detectable pulse. Officers obtained and executed a search warrant for the residence and 45 caliber pistol and a single spent cartridge case were recovered. It was also determined that Gehm was on the phone with a witness who heard Gehm and Severud talking. The witness stated the decedent said, “If you’re going to point that thing at me, you better pull the trigger” and then heard a gun shot. The witness heard Severud say, “How does that make you feel”? Severud discovered the phone was on and said you better get him help he’s been shot and the phone hung up. Severud admitted to officers shooting Gehm and also admitted to shooting him from a standing position while the decedent was seated. Severud has been charged with Felony Murder in the 1st degree and is being held in the Dent County Jail on 1 million dollar bond. The on Friday, December 2nd at about 8:00 in the evening, Dent County Deputies responded to a report of a possible stabbing at a residence in the 500 block of County Road 4283, about 8 miles east of Salem. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a white male later identified as 46-year old Glenn Haenisch laying outside on the driveway and bleeding severely from his legs. Haenisch was transported to the Salem Hospital where he died from his wounds. A number people were at the residence for a party and witnessed an altercation between Haenisch and his live-in paramour, 47-year old Shelly Kelly. Witnesses stated the couple began arguing in the house and then the altercation escalated and continued outside. Witnesses stated that Kelly stabbed Haenisch a number of times with a knife. Investigators discovered a bloody kitchen knife outside near the front porch as well as signs of a struggle. One witness told law enforcement that he observed Kelly stab Haenisch as he was trying to get away. The statements received from witnesses are consistent with the apparent wounds on Haenisch. Kelly has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and is being held in the Dent County jail in lieu of $1,000,000 cash only bond. This is the second homicide in as many days being investigated by the Dent County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The above information are just accusations and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of any charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it will be to determine guilt or innocence.
