An accident occurred at 4:28 Tuesday afternoon in Phelps County on Phelps County Road 2020 about a half mile east of Highway 63. According to the highway patrol report, a 2010 Chevrolet Impala driven by 60-year old Brent Beckner of Rolla was traveling westbound. Beckner’s vision was impaired due to the sun and the Chevrolet Impala struck a pedestrian who was walking near the road. Lex Kibler, an 18-year old Rolla resident, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center. The Chevrolet Impala sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.

An accident occurred at 6:55 Wednesday morning in St. Francois County on Route D near London Road. According to the highway patrol report, a 2014 Chevrolet driven by 33-year old Adam Stevens of Bunker was traveling northbound on Route D. Stevens failed to negotiate a curve to the right in the roadway and the Chevrolet traveled across the double yellow centerline and off the left side of the road. The right side of the Chevrolet stuck a MoDOT easement sign marker. The Chevrolet continued in its path and the front right corner of the vehicle struck a tree. Stevens suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Parkland Health Center South in Farmington by the St. Francois County ambulance. He was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Chevrolet was totaled and removed from the scene by Marler’s Towing.

Tonight at the Trees and Trains Exhibit 2016 at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center, people can enjoy listening to the Salem High School Chamber Choir starting at 6:30. The exhibit is late every Thursday through December 22nd starting at 9:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night. The exhibit is also open Saturdays starting at 9:00 AM through December 24th. The only day the exhibit is closed is Sunday opening at 9:00 every morning. This Saturday after the Christmas Parade of Lights, children are invited to walk through the exhibit with Santa until 9:00! This year’s Trees and Trains Exhibit has 27 trees, four collections and four front windows. This event is absolutely free and open to everyone.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Salem present their Parade of Lights and this year’s theme is the “Color of Christmas.” It will be held this Saturday beginning at 5:30 PM. The parade route will run from the old Fairgrounds, located at the corner of South Grand & Franklin, north on McArthur to 4th Street and then east to the Dent County Courthouse. Those interested in participating in the parade need to fill out an entry form and those forms must be submitted by TODAY. The Spring Creek Artisans Christmas Fest will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the historic Bonebrake Center in Salem. A wide variety of handmade items, from original paintings, wood carvings and turnings, pottery, baskets, fiber art, quilts, stained glass, wire wrapped jewelry, cards, and Christmas items will be on sale. Take a chance on a hand carved nativity scene by Best of Missouri Hands artist Russ Biros, and register to win the door prize a beautiful handcrafted wreath. They have several new artists creating beautiful and original work.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Foundation will be hosting their first annual “Dancing with the Salem Stars” fundraiser on Saturday, December 10th. Twelve couples will be dancing to help raise funds for updates to patient rooms. The “Dancing with the Salem Stars” will be held at the Old City Hall Auditorium. Participating in this year’s contest will be Dennis Pryor paired up with Rosalie Wright, Scott Roberts dancing with Barb Medlock, Nathan Miracle will dance with Lorna Mundwiller, Perry Novak is going to dance with partner Jan Gott, Teel Wisdom will trip the light fantastic with Emma Heithold, Don Sneed will partner up with Melissa DuBois, Brett Capps will dance with Linda Maledy, Zach Moser will strut his stuff with Jackie Sisco, Shannon Wright will partner up with Karla Tiefenthaler, Patrick McCoy will share the floor with Lena Sherrill, Tye Lydon will partner up with Elizabeth Halbrook and Mike Wofford will dance with Glenda Wofford. The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be at Sullivan tonight to face the St. Clair Bulldogs at 6:30 in the semi-final of the FCNB Bank-It Championship High School Basketball Tournament. Salem enters the game with a 2-0 record. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com. The winner will play in the championship game Friday evening at 8:00 while the loser will play Friday night at 6:30 at the Sullivan High School Gym.

The St. Louis Blues will be hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning starting at 7:00 tonight in St. Louis. KSMO will join the game in progress immediately after the Salem Tiger Basketball game. The Blues are 8-1-2 in their last 11 at Scottrade Center.

Funeral services for Lawrence Bates of Licking, age 86, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the Fox Funeral Home in Licking. Interment will be in the Boone Creek Cemetery.

Funeral services for Vivian Lurena Johnson of Salem, age 82, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be at the Webb Cemetery at 1:30. Memorials may be made to the Webb Cemetery.

Funeral services for Kendra Dawn Herron of Rolla, age 21, will be held Saturday morning at10:00 at the Rolla Chapel of James and Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday evening. Memorials may be made to the James and Gahr Mortuary to offset funeral expenses.

Memorial services for Garry Junior Conduitt of Salem, age 57, will be held Saturday at 12:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley Rose Gollhofer of Salem, age 89, will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Wilson Family Center. Memorials may be made to the Love Pack/Back Pack Program. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Cyrena “Fern” Shelton of Salem, age 85, will be held Monday at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Green Forest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Green Forest Cemetery or Dry Fork Baptist Church.

Memorial services for Starr Gayle Anderson of Salem, age 75, will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
