The Dent County Commission met for their regular meeting Monday morning at the courthouse. In road reports, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell reported that brush was being cut on Dent County Road 6490 and three dump trucks would be hauling brown rock and he stated an air valve was being replaced on truck #119. He went on to say that two men would be replacing missing road signs on county roads in the 2400’s, picking up tires that have been dumped along the roadways as well as checking and cleaning out culverts. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson reported that two men would also be hauling brown rock and work was being done on truck #72, truck #70 and grader tires were putting on grader #27. He went on to say that a crew would taking a backhoe to Dent County Road 3180 to clean out debris from bridges and they would also be cleaning out a low water crossing on county road 2230. Larson stated that he would be attending the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District banquet at the MRPC in St. James. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that Dent County was well represented at the MAC conference held last week. All three of the commissioners, county clerk, county treasurer and county recorder were all in attendance and it was a good conference. Skiles stated that he was elected treasurer. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported work continues on the county budgets for 2017. She stated that the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected officials for 2017 would be held Friday, December 30th at 2:00 pm in the upstairs courtroom at the courthouse. The Commission then voted to go into closed session for the purpose of discussing litigation. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that young deer hunters ages 6 through 15 checked 2,944 deer during Missouri's late youth portion of this year’s deer hunting season, November 25th thru 27th. Of the 2,944 deer harvested, 1,149 were antlered bucks, 426 were button bucks, and 1,369 were does. Top harvest counties were Pike with 70 deer checked, Howell with 55, and Lincoln and Osage with 52 each. Last year's late youth portion harvest total was 2,353 with 664 being antlered bucks, 376 button bucks, and 1,313 does. Deer hunting in Missouri continues with archery deer hunting through January 15th,  firearms antlerless portion December 2nd thru 4th, and firearms alternative methods portion December 24th through January 3rd.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 10 people died during this year’s Thanksgiving holiday counting period from 6:00 PM Wednesday, November 23rd through 11:59 PM Sunday, November 27th. Troopers investigated 400 traffic crashes, which included 124 injuries, and eight of the 10 fatalities. In addition, troopers arrested 103 people for driving while intoxicated and made 100 drug arrests during the 2016 Thanksgiving holiday counting period. There were no fatality traffic crashes to report on Wednesday, November 23rd or Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 24th. There were no boating crashes, zero boating fatalities, no boating while intoxicated arrests, and no drownings reported during the 2016 Thanksgiving holiday counting period.

The following accident report is a corrected version from the one that was reported in Monday’s Your World Today.

An accident occurred at 2:40 in the afternoon on Monday, November 21st on West Third Street in Salem. According to the Salem Police report, a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Roger Counts of Salem was backing south from a private drive onto West Third Street and Angela Dingess of Salem was traveling west on West Third in a 2012 Ford Fusion and Roger Counts failed to yield to the Chevrolet and made contact with the Chevrolet. No injuries were reported. The Chevrolet S-10 sustained minor damage while the Ford Fusion sustained extensive damage.

Jakob Happel scored 26 points and pulled down 11 rebounds leading the Salem Tigers past the Steelville Cardinals Monday night, 71-55. Logan Woolf netted 14 points, Eric Wood added 11 more and Dalton Cook finished with ten points. Salem jumped out to a 20-7 lead in the 1st quarter and started the second half strong with a 10-2 run to seal the contest. Salem will face St. Clair Thursday night at 6:30 at the Sullivan High School Gym.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored at 3:24 of overtime to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 4-3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night. Tarasenko took a pass from Jori Lehtera and fired a wrist shot past Stars goalie Antti Niemi for 10th of the season. The Blues will face Tampa Bay Thursday at 7. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos hit a 34-yard field goal that bounced off the left upright but still managed to go through the goal post to knock off the Broncos, 30-27 in overtime at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver Sunday night. It was the eighth-straight AFC West win for the Chiefs, who improved to 8-3 on the season.

Signups for all Salem Youth Basketball Leagues have been extended until Wednesday, November 30th for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Signup at the Salem Administrative Office located at 400 North Iron. Leagues will begin on December 17th and last through January 14th at the Salem High School Gym. The cost is $25 per player. Funeral services for Lawrence Bates of Licking, age 86, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the Fox Funeral Home in Licking. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Boone Creek Cemetery.

Funeral services for Vivian Lurena Johnson of Salem, age 82, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Webb Cemetery at 1:30. Memorials may be made to the Webb Cemetery.

Memorial services for Garry Junior Conduitt of Salem, age 57, will be held Saturday at 12:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley Rose Gollhofer of Salem, age 89, will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Wilson Family Center. Memorials may be made to the Love Pack/Back Pack Program. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
