The Dent County Fire Protection District Board of Directors conducted a special meeting Tuesday evening at the fire station. After approval of the minutes from the previous meeting, the Board reviewed financial reports including their 2017 budget was discussed. The budget is in the works and will be presented to the Board at the December meeting. In new business, the Board discussed the formation of the Dent County Emergency Respond Association (DCERA). They addressed Board member duties, particulars and responsibilities for Dent County Emergency Respond Association. Also discussed was if it would be better to be a 501(c) (3) or just a 501 not for profit organization and the liability insurance needs. After much discussion a motion was made to move forward with the DCERA formation as a 501 (c) (3). The meeting was then adjourned.

The Salem Police Department released reports involving forgery, probation violation, a burglary and theft of a motorcycle. On Tuesday, November 15th at 1:00 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted in reference to a forgery. The report revealed that someone unknown stole a check, forged it and cashed it at Country Mart for $50. The report is under investigation. At 2:00 that same afternoon, a 31 year-old female of Salem was found to have violated her terms of probation. She was incarcerated for seven days of shock for the violation. On Wednesday, November 16th at 9:39 in the morning, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 1000 block of East First in reference to a burglary. The report revealed that someone unknown took a tan and silver 49cc scooter, a .22 caliber revolver, a black air tank, fishing equipment and two gas cans all valued $2770.00 from the garage of a residence. The report is under investigation. On Thursday, November 17th at 2:21 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to the theft of a motorcycle. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a green 2001 Honda CBR motorcycle valued $2500.00 from the yard of a residence in the 300 block of West Roosevelt. An accident occurred at 7:55 Saturday morning in Texas County on Highway C three miles north of Licking. According to the Highway Patrol Report a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 41 year-old Wayne H. Edwards of Licking, ran off the right side of the roadway to avoid another vehicle, hit the ditch and overturned. According to the report Edwards was not wearing a safety restraint and sustained moderate injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the Texas County Memorial Hospital. The Jeep sustained moderated damage and was removed from the scene by Jay’s Automotive.

An accident occurred at 9:19 Saturday night in Dent County on Highway 32 nine miles east of Salem. According to the Highway Patrol Report a 2010 Hyundai, operated by 20 year-old Austin R. Hall of Rolla, ran of the south side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the north side of the roadway and overturned. The report stated that Hall was wearing a safety restraint and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to Salem Memorial District Hospital by Salem EMS. The Hyundai was totaled and removed from the scene by Whitakers Towing.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Salem present their Parade of Lights and this year’s theme is the “Color of Christmas.” It will be held on Saturday, December 3rd beginning at 5:30 PM. The parade route will run from the old Fairgrounds, located at the corner of South Grand & Franklin, north on McArthur to 4th Street and then east to the Dent County Courthouse. Those interested in participating in the parade need to fill out an entry form and those forms must be submitted by December 1st to 200 South Main. An accident occurred at 2:40 in the afternoon on Monday, November 21st on West Third Street in Salem. According to the Salem Police report, a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Roger Counts of Salem was backing south from a private drive onto West Third Street and then was traveling west on West Third. Counts failed to yield to a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Angel Dingess of Salem and the Chevrolet made contact with the Ford. No injuries were reported. The Chevrolet S-10 sustained minor damage while the Ford Fusion sustained extensive damage.

Signups for all Salem Youth Basketball Leagues have been extended until Wednesday, November 30th for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Signup at the Salem Administrative Office located at 400 North Iron. Leagues will begin on December 17th and last through January 14th at the Salem High School Gym. The cost is $25 per player. Drew Lock completed 16 of 26 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown, and Missouri Tigers scored 21 unanswered second-half points in a 28-24 victory over Arkansas 28-24 on Friday. Missouri's 2016 season is over and they finished with 4-8 record, 2-6 in the SEC.

The Missouri Tigers played inspired basketball in a 84-60 victory against Northwestern State at Mizzou Arena in Columbia on Saturday. The team was shocked by bad news on Thanksgiving Day as assistant coach Brad Loos announced Thursday on Facebook that cancer has returned in his 6-year-old daughter. Missouri Tigers play North Carolina Central tonight.

FCNB Basketball Tournament begins tonight at the Sullivan High School and the Salem Tiger Boys will be taking on the Steelville Cardinals beginning at 5:30. You can hear Salem Tiger Basketball here on KSMO 1340 AM or online at ksmoradio.com.

David Perron makes a nifty move and goes five-hole to beat Devan Dubnyk, helping the Blues to a 4-3 shootout win against the Minnesota Wild Saturday night. The Blues are back in action tonight as they host the Dallas Stars at the Scottrade Center with the pre-game starting at 6:30, we will be joining the Blues in progress, following Salem Tiger Basketball.

Funeral services for Linda Susan Johnson of St. James, age 45, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service.

Funeral services for Lawrence Bates of Licking, age 86, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the Fox Funeral Home in Licking. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Boone Creek Cemetery.

Memorial services for Garry Junior Conduitt of Salem, age 57, will be held Saturday at 12:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Internment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley Rose Gollhofer of Salem, age 89, will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Wilson Family Center. Memorials may be made to the Love Pack/Back Pack Program. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.

Memorial services for Starr Gayle Anderson of Salem, age 75, will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
