The Dent County Commission met Monday for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse. Dent County Treasurer Denita Williams brought in the figure for the sales tax received in November and it came to $54,633.17 which is down from the 2014 November figure of $57,070.14.  So far for the year 2015, sales tax collections for General Revenue are down $15,254.20 or about 2.04%. These receipt numbers will be similar for the Law Enforcement Sales Tax for the month. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell stated grading would be done on Dent County Roads 5220, 6245 and 6280 while grading would be done and brush cut on Dent County Road 6220. Purcell said materials would be added to Dent County Road 5600, also known as the Turtle Loop, as part of the Work Process Agreement using Title II funds. Purcell went on to report that a man would be screening brown rock. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson indicated grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2150, 2240 and 5330 while materials would be added to county road 4330. Larson reported brush would be cut on county roads 3330 and 4050 and maintenance would be done on county truck #114. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said her office and the treasurer balanced on all accounts for the month of October.  At the last meeting, Kurt Faigle with the 100-Acre Wood Road Rally was in to discuss the 2016 Road Rally that will be held March the 18th and 19th with the commissioners. The next meeting of the Dent County Commission will be Thursday morning at the courthouse at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

On Friday, November 6th, a search warrant was executed in the 40 block of Route EE. During the search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia was located. As a result of the search, Ms. Jessica Warnke of Salem, was arrested and is currently being held at the Dent County Jail on a $40,000 cash only bond. Also arrested was Mr. William Daniels of Salem who is currently being held at the Dent County Jail on a $15,000 cash only bond.

The Salem Police Department released reports for the end of October involving a domestic disturbance, theft of fuel, a shoplifter and an active arrest warrant. On Thursday night, October 29th at 11:53, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 200 block of South Warfel in reference to a domestic disturbance. The investigation of the report revealed a 26-year old Salem male had assaulted a 28-year old Salem female and fled the scene. At 4:41 on the afternoon of Friday, October 30th, an officer was sent to Phil-Mart in reference to the theft of fuel. The investigation of the report revealed the driver of a green Honda S.U.V. pumped $26.00 in fuel and left without paying. Later that evening at 6:19, an officer was sent to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. That investigation led to the detention of a 12-year old female juvenile of Salem for stealing merchandise valued at $27.92. The female juvenile was released to her parent and the report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office. On Halloween night at 10:35, an officer observed a 21-year old female of Rolla who had an active arrest warrant and a 32-year old male of Salem who was wanted for questioning regarding a theft.  The officer observed the two at Wal-Mart and attempted to apprehend them. The two suspects fled in a black Chevrolet pickup. The pickup was later located abandoned near First and Walker Streets in Salem. The suspects were not located. The incident is still under investigation.  Anyone with any information regarding the domestic disturbance report, theft of fuel report of the missing suspects is asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The Missouri Department of Insurance is encouraging seniors who are eligible for Medicare to review their plan options and costs during this year's open enrollment. To help consumers choose a plan that best meets their needs, the department offers free assistance through their CLAIM program. CLAIM is the state health insurance assistance program (Senior Health Insurance Program) for the state of Missouri. It provides free, unbiased help to Missourians on Medicare and their caregivers. During the annual open enrollment period, which runs through December 7th, consumers can change their Part D drug coverage or Medicare Advantage plans. Missouri consumers can ask questions by phone or arrange one-on- one counseling by calling 800-390-3330 or visiting CLAIM’s website. The website also offers a list of free open enrollment events that CLAIM is hosting throughout Missouri during open enrollment. CLAIM also can assist consumers on limited income determine whether they qualify for federal or state help in paying for prescription drugs. Medicare offers the Extra Help program, and the state offers the MoRx program. During the open enrollment, health care providers and others will talk about some unscrupulous sales tactics. Also, remember that Medicare is not part of the federal health insurance marketplace (exchange) under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The marketplace is not meant to serve people with Medicare. Consumers with complaints or questions about insurance can call the Department of Insurance Consumer Hotline at 800-726-7390 or visit insurance.mo.gov.

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will be holding a blood drive in Salem today from 1:00 to 6:00 at the First Baptist Church in Salem. There is a code yellow alert for types O negative and AB negative. Remember, you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be healthy and present a photo ID.

The St. Louis Blues will be in New Jersey tonight to face the Devils starting at 5:30 with the pre-game show. Game time will be at 6:00. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio. The Blues won their second game in-a-row and improved their overall record to 10-3-1. They currently sit second in the Central Division and Western Conference with 21 points.

The St. Louis Blues announced the club has signed forward Martin Havlat to a one-year contract. In addition, the Blues released forward Dainius Zubrus from his professional tryout. Overall, Havlat has appeared in 14 seasons including stints with Ottawa, Chicago, San Jose, Minnesota and New Jersey.

Funeral services for Priscilla Ann Land of Salem, age 75, will be held today at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the DCAWS.

Funeral services for Cecil Hockett of Salem, age 88, will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery will full military honors.

Funeral services for Rosemary Parker of Arnold, age 88, will be held Thursday at 12:30 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Greeley Cemetery.

Funeral services for Charles Harvey Hughes of Rolla, age 85, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time.

Funeral services for Jimmy Allen Conway of Salem, age 61, will be held Friday at 2:00 at the Salem Chapel of James and Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.
