An accident happened in Texas County on Route BB about five miles southwest of Licking at 4:50 Saturday afternoon that took the life of a Licking teenager. According to the highway patrol report, a 1993 Mazda MX3 driven eastbound by Austin Diedrich of Licking, went off the roadway in a curve and overturned several times before striking a tree and coming to rest on the driver’s side. Ejected from the vehicle was 17-year old Kelsie Hayes of Licking who was taken to the Texas County Memorial Hospital before being pronounced dead at 5:52 Saturday afternoon. Diedrich was not injured in the accident. Neither was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The vehicle was totaled and removed from the scene by Jay’s Automotive of Houston. The highway patrol was assisted by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.

An accident happened Friday night at 10:45 in Reynolds County on county road 752 about ten miles northwest of Ellington. According to the highway patrol report, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am driven northbound by 23-year old Robert Hart of Bunker, went off the left side of the roadway and overturned. Hart suffered minor injuries and was transported by the Reynolds County EMS to the Southeast Hospital in Ellington. Hart was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Grand Am was totaled in the accident and was removed from the scene by Hills Metals and Motors of Ellington.

The City of Salem Board of Alderman will conduct a meeting tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers located at 202 North Washington beginning at 7:00 PM. After approval of the agenda, the City had requested bids on the building and installation of a ten foot long dump bed on a new Ford F750 regular cab truck (which was budgeted) and those bids will be submitted to the Board. During unfinished business, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources requires that all engineering contracts include a specific statement and the Board will address changes on agreements for Professional Services and/or Wastewater System improvements. The Planning & Zoning Commission Chairman Jerry Craig will report on their meeting held October 19th regarding adopting the updated city map. City of Salem Administrator Ray Walden will then update the Board on various current and future projects concerning the City of Salem, followed by a report by Mayor J.J. Tune. During the introduction and reading of bills and resolutions, Bill #3307 an ordinance rescinding ordinance #3306 and replacing it in lieu thereof to authorize the mayor to execute an agreement for Professional Services between the City of Salem and CM Archer Group, P.C. on wastewater system improvements that is required since the wording was changed on the original agreement that the Board approved previous. In new and miscellaneous business the mayor will make his appointment to the Planning & Zoning Board of Adjustment with the Board’s approval. The new appointment will replace Tod Kinerk who resigned his term which runs until 2020. Street Superintendent Glenn will then request approval to Capital Quarries for 376.50 ton of 1 inch base rock in the amount of $3,106.15 and Water/Sewer Superintendent is requesting approval of repairing Clarifier #1 at the Waste Water Treatment Facility in the amount of $5,124 plus $1,000 for a total of $6,124. The Board may then vote to go into closed session. The meeting of the City of Salem Board of Alderman is open to the public.

Representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA), Missouri Department of Economic Development, area realtors, insurance agents, lenders and other community leaders will gather at The Centre located at 1200 Holloway Street in Rolla from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM tomorrow for the Meramec Regional Business Fair. Vendors will provide information and be available to answer questions about their products and services throughout the day. Maria Bancroft, a Business Loan Specialist at Meramec Regional Planning Commission, said the purpose of the event is to bring together as many available resources as possible that would benefit small businesses, new or existing, to one location. Visitors may drop by the event at their convenience and visit with vendors that include local lenders and banks, Missouri Department of Economic Development, insurance companies, realtors, Small Business Administration, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Small Business and Technology Development Center and the Meramec Regional Development Corporation. The Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Center at Missouri S&T and the Rolla Regional Economic Commission are helping sponsor this event in partnership with MRPC and MRDC. The MRDC serves primarily Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties.

Dylan Wisdom ran for 122 yards and scored three touchdowns leading the Salem Tigers to a 34-14 road win over the Ava Bears in the rain Friday night. Antonio Quick added two scores as he powered his way for 87 yards on nine carries and caught three passes for 29 yards. Eli Floyd had two interceptions for Salem in the 4th quarter, including a one-handed grab on the final interception that sealed the victory for the Tigers who are now 6-5 on the year. Salem will travel to Mountain Grove for the District Championship game Friday night at 7:00. Admission to the game will be $6.00 for anyone six years of age and older.

David Backes scored his second goal of the game in overtime that propelled the Blues to a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild Saturday night. Alexander Steen scored the other goal for St. Louis who will host the Los Angeles Kings Tuesday night at Scottrade Center at 7:00.

The St. Louis Rams beat San Francisco, 27-6 as Tavon Austin scored two touchdowns and Todd Gurley rushed for 133 yards and a TD. The Rams are now 4-3 on the year.

Alex Smith ran the ball five times for 78 yards and threw for 145 yards as Kansas City crushed Detroit in London, England at Wembley Stadium, 45-10. The Chiefs are now 3-5 on the season.

Christian Colon singled home the tiebreaking run in the 12th inning and those bound-and-determined  Kansas City Royals rallied one more time to beat the New York Mets 7-2 early Monday morning for their first World Series championship since 1985 and second overall. The Royals scored five runs in the 12th including three runs on a double by Lorenzo Cain.

Funeral services for Bruna “Marie” Cuccarollo of St. James, age 98, will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at the Immaculate Catholic Church in St. James. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday night at the St. James Chapel of James and Gahr Mortuary. Interment will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Rosati. Memorials may be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Funeral services for Delphia Mae Bacon of Salem age 83, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church in Salem. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer Association.
