The Dent County Commissioners met Monday morning for their regular meeting. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell stated grading was going to be done on Dent County Roads 2480, 6190, 6210 and 6220. He mentioned that brush was going to be cut on county roads 5070, 5075 and 5110 while crews will be stockpiling white rock at the Road and Bridge Shed on Highway 32-72 West. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said grading was being done on Dent County Roads 2320, 2330, 3040, 3080 and 4380 while materials will be added and grading done on county road 3020. He also said materials would be added to county road 2510 and brush was going to be cut on Dent County Roads 5300 and 5310. Larson did say that a man would be putting up a 20 MPH speed limit sign on county road 2390. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that if you have moved since you voted last to please contact her office to get your address changed NOW before the election on November 8th. She stated that a number of people have come in to her office to get sample ballots and the fair ballot language pamphlets. She still has plenty available for anyone who wants one and she highly recommends people pick up a sample ballot so that you can be familiar with the propositions when you vote. You can even bring your sample ballot with you when you vote so that you know what you decided before hand. She said absentee voting will continue until November 7th at 5:00 at her office and that her office will be open this Saturday from 8:00 in the morning until 12:00 noon for absentee voting. At the last meeting, the commissioners agreed to sign a non-binding letter of intent from L.J. Hart and Company to serve as an underwriter for the financing for the possible jail/justice center project. There would be no cost to the county unless a measure would be passed by voters to move forward with the project. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

Dent County Commissioner Dennis Purcell wanted to let people know who drive Dent County Road 4110 that they may want to use an alternative route until Thursday due to the Missouri Department of Conservation cutting the pavement out at the entrance to Shawnee Mac Lake and replacing it with concrete. The entrance to Shawnee Mac will be reduced to one lane and work to improve the entrance will come out into the driving area of county road 4110 which may cause delays. Purcell recommends those who must use county road 4110 to drive with extreme caution in that area. He says this work should be completed by late Wednesday afternoon.
