Superintendent Larry Johnson announced that the Ozark National Scenic Riverways will extend the operating season for the park’s developed campgrounds beyond October 15th. There will be restrooms with running water available in each developed campground, as well as sites with electric hookups in several campgrounds. The fee for non-electric sites will be $12.00 per night. For electric sites the fee will be $15.00 per night. Campsites will be available on a first come, first served basis. After October 15th, back-country campsites will be available at no charge. At Big Spring Campground, non-electric sites will be provided in the 100 Loop, with electric sites available in the 200 Loop.  At Alley Spring Campground, non-electric sites will be provided in the 100 Loop, with electric sites available in the 600 Loop. At Round Spring Campground, non-electric campsites 2-14 will be open and campsites E1-E6 will be available with electric hookups. At Pulltite Campground, non-electric campsites 2-14 will be open. During the winter season, trash disposal will be available at a central location in each campground. Shower facilities will be closed due to reduced levels of maintenance staff  throughout the park. Big Spring Campground will be temporarily closed to ensure public safety during the Wounded Warrior Mobility Impaired hunt on November 7th thru 8th. The Salem Police Department has released some reports. At 9:47 in the evening Monday, October 5th, an officer located a 51-year old Salem male in the 700 block of South Pershing who had an active arrest warrant from Dent County. He was taken into custody on the warrant and incarcerated pending a court appearance. On Wednesday, October 7th at 1:30 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to Casey's General Store on Highway 32 East in reference to the theft of fuel. That investigation revealed the driver of a black minivan pumped $20.00 in fuel and left without paying. Anyone with any information regarding the theft of fuel is asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) is now accepting reservations for its Friday, October 30th Annual Dinner celebration, held in honor of Meramec Region residents who give to their communities by volunteering their time, talents and support. This year 12 volunteers comprised of three youth, seven individuals with outstanding contributions to their communities and two community organizations will be honored at the 2015 MRPC Annual Dinner celebration to be held at the Havener Center on the Missouri S&T campus located at 1346 North Bishop Avenue in Rolla. From Crawford County, Sierra Zeiss was nominated for the Outstanding Youth Award and Rosemary Gruver was nominated for Outstanding Contributions to a Community, both by Crawford County Presiding Commissioner Leo Sanders; Gary Brown of Dent County was nominated by Dent County Commissioner Darrell Skiles for Outstanding Contributions to the Community; and from Phelps County, Laura Antolak was nominated by MRPC Board member Don Brackhahn for Outstanding Contributions to the Community, and James Myers was nominated by John Butz and John Peterson of the City of Rolla for Outstanding Contributions to the Community. The public is invited to attend the event. The city of Rolla and Phelps County are hosting the event. The reception begins at 5:30 PM and will include a silent auction and exhibits. The Annual Dinner will begin at 6:30 with a program and awards presentation to follow. Businesses or individuals interested in assisting in sponsorship of the reception can donate a basket, product or service for the silent auction. On Sunday, October 4th, deputies from the Dent County Sheriffs Department were dispatched to the 2000 block of Highway 19 North for a report of a burglary. Upon the deputies’ arrival, it was discovered that numerous items had been taken. An initial investigation revealed that the residence had been entered by an unknown subject or subjects and that approximately $1,300.00 worth of items had been stolen.  Anyone with any information regarding this stealing incident is asked to contact the Dent County Sheriff's Office. On Tuesday, October 6th, deputies were requested to make contact with an alleged victim of identity theft.  The victim said that an unknown person had used his personal information to open a checking account. The report is under investigation.

Kyle Schwarber, Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez homered and the young Cubs clinched a postseason series at Wrigley Field for the first time ever, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 Tuesday to win the NL Division Series in four games. Stephen Piscotty hit a first inning homer in a losing cause for the Cardinals who lost for the first time in the Division series in over five years.

The Kansas City Royals and the Houston Astros square off tonight at 7:07 to determine who will go to the American League Championship Series in Game 5 at Kaufmann Stadium. The teams split the home and road games in this series. You can watch the game on Fox Sports 1.

Colton Parayko scored his first two NHL goals to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 4-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. The Blues will continue their Canadian trip as they travel to Edmonton to face the Oilers Thursday night starting at 8:30.

The Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will miss the remainder of the season after the star running back hurt his right knee in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to Chicago. Chiefs coach Andy Reid the results of an MRI indicate that Charles ACL is torn. Charles torn the ACL in his left knee three years ago and missed the season.

Graveside services for Frances Emma Hertlein Yeary of Steelville, age 105, will be held today at 1:00 at the Steelville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Steelville Presbyterian Church of the charity of your choice. All arrangements are under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville.

Funeral services for Stanley Paul Johns of Salem, age 51, will be held Thursday at 12:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:30 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to DCAWS.

Funeral services for Tressie Esther Barton of Linn, age 93, will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery. A Memorial services will be held at 2:00 on Monday, October 19th at the Linn Living and Rehab in Linn, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A Celebration of Life Service for Neil Eugene Maricle of St. James, age 82, will be held Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home.
