The Maries County sheriff's department is still looking for 37-year old Chad Cochran of Salem who eluded them after a chase in the Vichy and Vienna areas Sunday evening. According to the sheriff's department, the incident started when the Maries County Sheriff's office received a report that Cochran took a woman against her will and was beating her. They responded to the call and pulled behind the Cochran van and heard the woman screaming for help before Cochran pulled her back into the van and fled. A chase ensued on Highway 63 and near Vichy, Cochran slammed on his brakes forcing the deputies vehicle to strike the van from behind. After several more miles of pursuit, the deputies then used a precision immobilization technique that forced the van off the road into a ditch. The maneuver disabled the deputies vehicle, but Cochran continued north on Highway 63 on two popped tires from the maneuver before abandoning his van in a corn field off of Maries County Road 340. He fled the scene into a heavily wooded area without the woman who was found and treated for minor injuries. Her name has not been released. Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and Missouri Department of Conservation agents helped with the chase and the search. Anyone who has information on Cochran’s location can contact the Maries County sheriff's office, the number is (573) 422-3381 or call local law enforcement.
