The Salem Police Department released reports involving a disturbance, a shoplifter, theft, property damage and an assault. On Friday, September 18th at 3:02 in the afternoon, an officer located a 26-year old Salem female at the Salem Upper Elementary who had an active arrest warrant from Sullivan, Missouri. She was taken into custody on the warrant and incarcerated pending extradition. That night at 7:00, an officer located a 37-year old Salem male in the 1400 block of South Gertrude who had an active arrest warrant from the City of Salem. He was taken into custody on the warrant and incarcerated pending a court appearance. Later that same night at 9:32, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 1000 block of West Coffman in reference to a disturbance. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 30-year old Salem female for disorderly conduct. She was incarcerated on a 12-hour hold and later released after being issued a summons to appear in court. At 12:09 in the early morning on Saturday, September 19th, an officer was sent to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. That investigation led to the arrest of a 25-year old male and a 27-year old male both of Salem for stealing merchandise valued at $22.98. Both suspects were issued summonses to appear in court and were released. That afternoon at 3:00 an officer was contacted in reference to a theft from a storage unit. The investigation of the report revealed someone unknown took two 60-inch Samsung television sets valued at $2,800 from a storage unit located in the 200 block of East Rolla Road. Then at 5:22 later that afternoon an officer was detailed to a residence in the 1400 block of South Hickory in reference to property damage. That investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown damaged a window valued at $100. Anyone with any information regarding the theft from a storage unit, property damage or theft reports is asked to call the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.

The City of Salem Board of Alderman will conduct their meeting tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers at 202 N. Washington beginning at 7:00 PM. After the approval of the agenda and during the hearing of persons, Jeff Meadows of Archer-Elgin will update the board on the City’s Wastewater Treatment Facility and Max Edwards will discuss the new sewer rates. The board will then discuss bids from the city for the purchase of de-icing salt for this winter and for the installation of playground equipment in the park. In unfinished business at the last board meeting, Mayor Tune accepted the resignation of Todd Kinerk from the Planning & Zoning Board of Adjustment and wishes to appoint Mr. Kinerk to the Planning & Zoning Board. Mayor Tune also opened up a discussion on the City’s policy concerning sick leave pay. The Mayor asked the Board to review this policy and Mr. Walden stated he will collect information from other cities on how they handle this situation and report his findings at Monday’s meeting. City Administrator, Ray Walden will update the Board on various items concerning the City and Mayor J.J. Tune will give his report. In the introduction and reading of bills and resolutions, Bill # 3305 is an ordinance to authorize the Mayor to execute a contractservice agreement between the City of Salem and intrinsic corporation for mapping services. Bill # 3306 is an ordinance to authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement for the professional services between the City of Salem and CM Archer Group, P.C. on waste water system improvements. The board will then discuss new and miscellaneous business and vote to go into closed session to discuss personnel and real estate. The meeting of the Salem Board of Alderman is open to the public.

An accident occurred at 11:24 Saturday night in Phelps County on Route O eight miles south of Rolla. According to the highway patrol report, a 2009 Pontiac G6 driven by 22-year old Kendra M. Wilson of Rolla, failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Wilson overcorrected traveling off the left side where the Pontiac overturned before coming to rest against a tree. Wilson was wearing a safety restraint and suffered moderate injuries. She was transported to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by law enforcement officers. The Pontiac was totaled and removed from the scene by C & C Towing of Rolla

An accident occurred at 9:57 Friday evening in Phelps County on I-44 at the 176.6-mile marker. According to the highway patrol report, a 2005 Pontiac G6 driven by 24-year old Daniel J. Tinsley of Rolla, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a sign, then struck a guardrail, before the Pontiac came to rest off the roadway. Tinsley was wearing a safety restraint and suffered minor injuries.   He was transported to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by the Phelps County Ambulance. The Pontiac sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by C & C Towing.

Dylan Wisdom scored twice, but the Salem Football Tigers failed to score two other times inside the 20-yard line as Salem fell to Mountain Grove Friday night, 20-14. Salem is now 3-4 on the year and 2-3 in the SCA. They will be at Mountain View-Liberty on Friday night.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers beat Marshfield 13-10 and Norwood, 13-8 in pool play Friday, then lost to Pacific 12-11 and Waynesville, 7-6 on Saturday in the winners bracket, taking 4th in the Rolla Tournament. They will go for their fourth consecutive SCA Championship today when they host the Lady Eagles of Mountain View-Liberty starting at 4:30. You can hear the game on KSMO and online at ksmoradio.com. The game will be recorded for Fidelity Local 6.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost all three games at Atlanta over the weekend and never scored a run, losing 4-0, 6-0 and 2-0. The Cardinals will host the winner of the Pittsburgh-Chicago winner on Friday and Saturday at times TBA.

The Kansas City Royals earned home field advantage in the playoffs with a 5-1 win over Minnesota on Sunday. They will face the winner of the Houston-New York Yankee game on Thursday and Friday.

Nick Foles threw for three touchdowns, two after Arizona turnovers, and St. Louis' defense held the Arizona Cardinals to field goals on four of five trips inside the red zone as the Rams beat Arizona, 24-22. The Rams are 2-2 on the year and 2-0 in the Western Conference.

The Cincinnati Bengals remained unbeaten with a 36-21 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday as Alex Smith was sacked five times. The Chiefs are 1-3 on the year.

Drew Lock started at quarterback for Missouri Saturday in place of Maty Mauk, and completed 21 of 28 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Tigers (4-1, 1-1) win their first conference game of the season over South Carolina, 24-10. Missouri will host Florida Saturday.

A Celebration of Life for Raymond Loyd Gollhofer of Salem, age 90, will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Wilson Family Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Love Pack Back Pack Program.
