The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released reports. On Friday, September 11th at 5:45 PM the sheriff's office received a telephone call concerning property damage, which was occurring in the 500 block of County Road 5170. Deputies responded to the area and made contact with the victim, a 45-year old female of Salem. Deputies learned from the victim that a 59-year old male of Salem had damaged the victims’ vehicle. The victim estimated the cost of the damages to be $300. The suspect was located at the residence and a field interview took place. During the course of the interview, the suspect confessed to having damaged the victim’s vehicle. He was arrested and then transported to the Sheriff's Office, cited and then released. Thursday, September 17th, Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of North Pershing and Franklin. Deputies were granted consent to search the vehicle and during the consent search, deputies located drug paraphernalia, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. As a result, 30-year old Brandon Kulp of Salem was arrested. Kulp was transported to the Dent County Jail and incarcerated. On Friday, September 18th at 10:55 at night, a well being check in the 2000 block of South Highway 19 led to the arrest of Holly Abbott and Aubree Botkin, both of Salem. Abbott and Botkin are both charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and 1st degree endangering the welfare of a child. Bond for Abbott and Botkin has been set at $20,000 cash only. These charges are just accusations. A court of competent jurisdiction will determine their innocence or guilt.

The Dent County Commissioners met Monday morning for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse. At the meeting, Beth Frizzell from the Dent County Senior Citizens Board addressed the commission about replacing a member from the board. Frizzell recommended Karen Fowler to replace Gail Gravely who recently passed away. The commission approved her request. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell reported grading would be done and materials added to Dent County Road 5020, while just grading would be completed on county roads 6020 and 6575. Purcell said brush would be cut on Dent County Road 6320 and the brakes would be replaced on truck #57. Purcell also noted that a man would be traveling to Springfield to get a load of oil for chip and seal repair. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson indicated that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2050, 5225, 6130, 6140 and 6160. Larson went on to say that brush would be cut on county roads 4030 and 4380, and a man would be servicing the brush cutter and tractor #6. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said he would be attending the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District Executive Board to score 12 recycling requests that have been submitted. Of the 12 applications submitted, only one would involve Dent County and that would be as part of the extension application. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

An accident happened in Phelps County on Phelps County Road 5310 Saturday night at 10:45. According to the highway patrol report, a 2013 Yamaha ATV driven by 20-year old Dylan Harmount of Rolla, failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and struck a rock before the ATV overturned. Suffering serious injuries was a passenger on the ATV, Addison Martin of Rolla and she was taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Harmount suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. The ATV had moderate damage and was removed from the scene by a family friend. Neither Harmount or Martin were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.

An accident happened in Reynolds County on Highway 72 at Bunker Saturday morning at 11:20. According to the highway patrol report, 27-year old Dustin McNail of Bunker was driving his 1995 Harley Davidson 1200 westbound on Highway 72 with a passenger, 27-year old Kayla Evans riding on the back. While the motorcycle was moving, Evans fell of the motorcycle, suffering moderate injuries. She was taken by the Reynolds County Ambulance to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. There was no damage to the motorcycle and it was driven from the scene.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their September meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 PM. After approval of the agenda and the minutes from the August 18th public tax and regular meeting will be the summary of operations and statistics reports as well as the CNO report for August. Hospital Administrator Dennis Pryor will then update the Board with an auxiliary report, the hospital activity calendar and legislative updates, followed by the chief of staff report. In old business the Board will address the 2011 strategic planning goals update, the Community Health Needs Assessment and the Ozark Independent Health Alliance (OIHA). Then in new business there will be a finance committee appointment and there will be an annual bylaw review. The Board may then vote to go into closed session. The September meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors meeting is open to the public.

The Dixon Lady Softball Bulldogs scored three runs in the 5th inning and four more in the 6th inning as they rallied to beat the Lady Tigers by the score of 8-2. Salem had led 2-1 in the game on a two-run single by Camryn Pryor before the Lady Bulldogs rallied. Salem is 9-7 on the year and the Lady Tigers will be back in action when they will host the Willow Springs Lady Bears in SCA play this afternoon starting at 4:30. The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host Ava tonight at the SHS gym in SCA play starting at 6:00 with the JV contest with the varsity match to follow.

Rookie Stephen Piscotty doubled in the go-ahead run in a two-run eighth inning and the St. Louis Cardinals turned it on late for a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. Rookie Tommy Pham tripled off J.J. Hoover (8-2) to open the eighth and Jhonny Peralta's one-out single tied it ahead of Piscotty's drive off the wall in left-center. The Cardinals play the Reds tonight at 7:15 on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Royals had the day off Monday and will be hosting the Seattle Mariners tonight to start a three game set. The Royals magic number is 3 to clinch the American League Central Division.

Funeral services for Charles Elmer Butler of Salem, age 74, will be held today at 1:00 at the Salem Chapel of James and Gahr Mortuary. A Special Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 tonight. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.

Funeral services for Donald Poskin of St. James, age 85, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel in St. James. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery with Military Honors at the Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. James Kiwanis Backpack Program or the St. James United Methodist Church.
