The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds hunters they must show proof of their Hunter Education certification number to buy firearms hunting permits if their certification number is not already in the Department’s permits system. A hunter education course is required for hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1967 who hunt with firearms. Proof of certification from any state is acceptable. Hunters can find their “Hunter Ed #” on the front of their Missouri Conservation Heritage Card, or on their temporary Hunter Education certificate. If hunters do not have one of these, they can call the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Hunter Education or Permit Services staff at 573-751-4115. If you need to get a Hunter Education Permit and have not attended a class, courses are beginning to show up on the mdc.mo.gov website. A course will be held in Bunker on September 24th from 9:00 to 1:00 at the Bunker High School and also in Rolla at RTI a number of times.

Sexton suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. It is unknown if she was wearing a safety device. The Chevrolet HHR was totaled and removed by the owner.

A special waste collection for electronics and appliances will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday in Cuba at Hood Park. Free electronics also include flat screen monitors, computer CPUs, keyboards, printers, VCRs, and handheld electronics such as cell phones. This collection is for anything that runs on a battery or cord. A $10 fee will be charged for each CRT television and $5 for each CRT computer monitor. To get to the park from 1-44 Exit 208, go .7 miles south on Highway 19; turn left onto Washington Street/Historic Route 66 and drive .6 miles; turn right on Rutz Subdivision Road and left onto Hood Drive and look for park signs.
