The Dent County Fire Protection District Board of Directors held their September meeting Tuesday evening at the fire station. Bills were reviewed and approved and the Board also reviewed their calendar of upcoming events at the fire station. In the monthly reimbursement report, there were a total of 15 calls that included: two structure fires, two car fires, five calls for first responders, two calls for a vehicle accident, two calls for training and two other calls of which one was for standby for law enforcement and one for a tractor trailer that lost its load. In old business, it was reported that the brush truck was still in the shop to be painted and department personnel in the Fire 1 and 2 courses are working on missed tests and will be either retesting or taking classes to retest. During new business, it was noted that Integrity Engineer’s contract for repairs to the building and lot were presented to the Board for approval. The contract had to be in place before the grant process could be started. The Board approved to proceed with the contract and to pay for it with capital improvement funds. The Board was then informed that in applying for the USDA grant to repair the parking lot, roof and other items and to proceed with that grant, the District had been advised to set up a Not for Profit Organization. The Board decided to consult an attorney before any further action is taken and this will discussed further at the next meeting. The Board then set their next meeting for Tuesday, October 4th at the fire station beginning at 6:00 pm and the meeting was then adjourned.
