missourinetLOCAL NEWS:

According to a report from the Dent County Sheriff’s Office, they have arrested 24-year old Devin Glore of Bourbon on charges of assault, possession of a methamphetamine and parental kidnapping from multiple jurisdictions. Glore was the subject of a tip received Wednesday by the Dent County Sheriff's Department that indicated he was staying in a residence at the end of the private lane next to the Roadhouse at the Corner of Highway 32 and 72 West. Believing that Glore was armed, Dent County Sheriff Rick Stallings requested the Rolla Police Department’s SWAT team to assist in entering the house due to the danger. They responded and along with other emergency responders set up a perimeter at about 2:30 and that is when law enforcement first tried to contact Glore. After not having success all day, the house was gassed and the SWAT team entered the house but Glore was not to be found. After an all night man hunt with no success, the sheriff’s office received a tip from a resident that Glore was in an apartment in the 200 block of Henderson where he was found hiding under some blankets in a closet.

The Dent County Commission met Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell stated that services was being done on grader #24. He went on to report grading would be done on Dent County Road 2470 and brush would be cut on county road 5380. Two men were working on truck #117 and when they are finished, they will haul brown rock. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson indicated grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2360, 3030 and 3150. He reported that a crossover pipe was going to be installed on Dent County Road 4410 and materials will also be added to that road, plus a washout on Dent County Road 5310 will be repaired. Larson did say a man would be working on a backhoe that will be used for the washout repair. The Commission heard from Ragan Holliday and Chris Collier from Hilltop Security regarding the issuance of jail bonds. Dent County Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles attended the Jump Start Steering Committee meeting Thursday at the Salem Community Center at the Armory. The next meeting will be Monday morning at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

The Dent County Health Center Board of Trustees held their regular meeting Monday evening. Roma Jones provided a VAX-CARE update. The training was completed for staff on August 4th, and they are now able to provide adult vaccines and bill private insurance for our patients. These vaccines include flu vaccine, pneumonia, Tdap, Meningitis, and Zostavax (shingles). In order to provide the shingles and pneumonia vaccines, the Health Center must have a doctor’s order from your physician. They will provide vaccines daily from 8 to 4 on a walk-in basis. For more information and a complete listing of available vaccines, just call 729-3106 during office hours. Jane Jadwin reported that the office would be closed Monday, August 29th for staff training. Jadwin went over a number of contracts including the Million Hearts contract that is held in conjunction with Healthy Dent County. They are waiting on the Department of Health and it should be here in a couple of weeks. An audit report was received from the tabletop exercise held in July with community partners and SEMA on Bioterrorism. There were no deficiencies and the Health Center was commended for the strong working relationship that it has with local emergency management and first responders. The Health Center is also communicating with local medical providers as information is received from Department Health as to prevention and testing for the ZIKA virus. The Missouri State Laboratory is now testing for the ZIKA virus. Missouri currently has 22 confirmed cases of ZIKA from travel-related patients. There have been no reported cases of Zika virus contracted from a mosquito bite in Missouri. Jadwin gave an update as to employee health insurance offerings. The Health Department currently has a contract with MO Consolidated Health Insurance and will be attending a webinar this week for any new information for the coming year. Jane is continuing to obtain insurance bids from other insurance providers and will report back to the Board when available. The meeting was then adjourned.

The Salem Football Tigers will be hosting Sumner to start out their 2016 home season tonight starting at 6:30 on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com. The game will also be streamed live on FidelityLocal6.com and will be shown on Channel 6 and 406 late Friday night. Salem is 1-0 entering the game.

Payton Curley had three hits including a home run and drove in four runs as the Salem Tigers demolished Seymour Thursday at Seymour by the score of 19-0 in four innings as Kari Hatridge pitched the four inning shutout. Bekka Kirker also had three hits for Salem as the Lady Tigers are scheduled to participate in the Houston Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

Cardinals’ pitcher Adam Wainwright lost his glove trying to tag out Yoenis Cespedes and lost the game, too, when Alejandro De Aza homered and drove in five runs to send the New York Mets over St. Louis 10-6 Thursday night. The strange play happened when Cespedes tried to go from first to third on a bloop single by James Loney. When several Cardinals chased the ball, Wainwright covered third base. Cespedes slid and his cleat pinned Wainwright's glove to the bag - he would've been out, but when Wainwright pulled away his hand, the mitt stayed stuck under Cespedes' foot. Because Wainwright didn't control the ball, Cespedes was called safe in a ruling upheld by replay. Moments later, De Aza hit a three-run homer to make it 7-0. Brandon Moss hit two home runs for the Cardinals and Jedd Gyorko and Stephen Piscotty also connected as the Red Birds will host the Oakland A's this weekend starting tonight at 9:15 after Tiger Football on KSMO Radio.

Alcides Escobar homered and drove in two runs to lead the surging Kansas City Royals past the Miami Marlins 5-2 on Thursday night. Salvador Perez and Kendrys Morales also drove in runs for the Royals as the defending World Series champions have won 15 of 18 to pull within four games of the second AL wild card spot. Kansas City starter Edison Volquez (10-10) pitched five innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, and three hits. Kelvin Herrera pitched a flawless ninth for his ninth save in 11 chances. The Royals travel to Boston to face the Red Sox this weekend.
