Smart Asset, a financial technology company, recently completed its second annual study on counties receiving the greatest amount of investment in their local economies and Dent County came in 2nd overall in the state of Missouri in their incoming investment index of 40.20. Their study aims to capture the places across the country that are receiving the most incoming investments in business, real estate, government and the local economy as a whole. In their findings, Dent County was showed the most business growth percentage wise for a county with 36.8% in the state. This figure shows the change in number of new businesses established in the county over the last three year period. Their study also showed Dent County had Gross Domestic Product growth of 27 million dollars using real growth adjusted for inflation in the local economy. Smart Asset also studied the investment in municipal bonds and found municipal bond debt per capita was $562 per person. They took the total municipal bond debt raised by a county over the last five years and divided that by the population. This gave us a per capita look at investment in local government and schools. Smart Asset then scored every county in our study on these factors, weighting each factor equally. They also combined those scores to create a final ranking of cities. With the ranking, they created an index where the county with the most incoming investments was assigned a value of 100 and the county with the least investment activity received a zero.
