An accident occurred Monday afternoon at 2:15 in Phelps County on county road 3060 just east of county road 3030. According to the highway patrol report, a 2008 Pontiac Torrent driven by 24-year old Kayla Wieberg of Salem was traveling westbound. Wieberg traveled off the right side of the road, struck a sign and several trees. The Pontiac then traveled back on to the roadway and stopped. Wieberg suffered serious injuries and was transported by Mercy Lifeline to Barnes Hospital. The Pontiac was totaled and removed by C&C Towing. The highway patrol was assisted by the Rolla Police Department, the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, the Phelps County ambulance, Mercy Lifeline and the Rolla Rural Fire Department.

An accident occurred at 5:05 late Monday afternoon in Crawford County on Highway 49 about a mile south of Sellers Road. According to the highway patrol report, a 2013 Kia Soul driven by 19-year old Madeleine Ruwitch of St. Louis was traveling northbound and was making a u-turn below a hillcrest. A 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 20-year old Makala Linderman of Cherryville was traveling southbound and struck the front of the Kia. Linderman suffered minor injuries and was transported by EMS to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. Everyone involved was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. Both the Kia Soul and the Dodge Ram were totaled and removed from the scene by Abney’s Towing of Viburnum.

The "Farm to Table" Camp sponsored by Healthy Dent County and the University of Missouri Extension in Dent County has been changed from a week long camp to being held only on Friday, June 24th from 8:00 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon at the Salem Community Garden. The camp is for boys and girls in the 5th, 6th and 7th grades. The cost for the one day camp will be $20 and you must register by TODAY. The Salem Police Department released several reports. On Thursday, Jun 9th at 11:24 Am an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft.  The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a new Murray lawn mower and weed eater valued $260.00 from the garage of a residence in the 1200 bock of West

Franklin. On Friday, June 10th at 11:48 AM an officer was detailed to a residence in the 300 block of South Askins in reference to a hotline call placed to the Division of Family Services regarding living conditions. The report led the officer to remove an infant from the home due to the living conditions and drug activity. The infant was placed in protective custody with Division of Family Services.  That afternoon at 4:30 an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of East Center in reference to a domestic disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 30-year old Salem female for possession of opium.  She was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant.  On Saturday, June 11th at 12:40 in the afternoon an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft.  The report revealed someone unknown took a purse and contents valued $200.00 from a silver 2004 Pontiac Grand Am that was parked in Dollar General parking lot. That night at 7:01 a 1991 Dodge Intrepid, previously reported stolen from Hill Top Auto was located by Tunica Biloxi Tribal Police Department in Biloxi, Louisiana. The driver, a 45-year old Salem male was taken into custody for motor vehicle theft and is awaiting extradition to Dent County.  On Sunday, June 12th at 4:00 PM an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a stolen vehicle. Investigation of the report revealed a 34-year old Salem male had taken a vehicle without permission. On Monday, June 13th at 11:26 in the morning an officer was detailed to a residence in the 700 block of East Roosevelt in reference to a theft. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a grey, 18", boys bicycle valued $70.00 from the yard of the residence. On Tuesday, June 14th at 9:23 PM an officer was contacted at the station in reference to an assault. The report revealed a 20-year old Salem male had assaulted a 55-year old Salem male of Salem, Missouri. Come join in for a Hands-on Cooking on a Budget Class on June 30th starting at 5:30 PM. Ben Latimer, University of Missouri Extension will be teaching the hands-on class. What is on the menu? You will learn how to make spinach and sausage lasagna roll-ups, garlic bread, and fresh blueberry cobbler. You will also get the recipes for each of these dishes! All for only $10 a person. This class will be held in the kitchen at the Salem Community Center at the Armory. Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday homered to back Adam Wainwright, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 on Tuesday night.The Cardinals won their second straight game after going 0-5 on their first winless homestand of at least two series since 1983. The Cardinals play the Cubs today at 1:20. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

Bartolo Colon's early injury put the New York Mets in a major bind, but they won a battle of bullpens against the best relief corps in baseball and defeated the Kansas City Royals 2-1 on Tuesday night in a World Series rematch. Robles relieved after Colon bruised his thumb after being hit by a line drive on his fourth pitch. Ian Kennedy allowed two runs over four innings. The Royals play the Mets today at 12:10.

Funeral services for Richard L. “Dick” Rogers, age 83, of Rolla, MO, will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the Greentree Christian Church, Rolla, MO. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Fox Chapel in Licking. Richard L. “Dick” Rogers passed away June 17, 2016.  All arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home in Licking.

Funeral services for Stanley Leon Craft of St. James, age 64, will be held Friday at 12:00 at the First Pentecostal Church of Vichy. Visitation will be from 10:30 until service time. Memorials are suggested to the First Pentecostal Church of Vichy. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of St. James.

Funeral services for Joyce H. Cornelius of Rolla, age 77, will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at the James and Gahr Chapel in Rolla. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time Saturday. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery.
