An accident occurred at 4:20 Thursday afternoon in Texas County on Cameron Road about two miles east of Licking. According to the highway patrol report, a 2001 Honda Recon driven by 31-year old Matthew Gale of Raymondville was traveling southbound when the Honda traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. Gale suffered serious injuries and transported by ambulance to the Texas County Memorial Hospital. He was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Honda Recon sustained minor damage and was towed by Jay’s Automotive.

On Thursday afternoon, an accident occurred in Iron County at 1:30 on Route KK about three miles southwest of Bixby. According to the highway patrol report, a 2013 Freightliner dump truck driven by 49-year old David O’Neail of Cherryville, was traveling northbound and ran off the right side of the roadway. The load in the truck shifted causing the dump truck to overturn. O’Neail suffered moderate injuries and was flown by helicopter to St. Anthony’s Medical Center. The dump truck was totaled and removed by Abney’s Towing of Arcadia.

On Saturday, May 21st an accident occurred at 1:24 in the afternoon on the intersection of Highways 19/32 in Salem. According to the Salem Police report, a 192 Chevy K-1500 4X4 driven by Brandon Swigert and owned by Ronnie White Jr., both of Salem was westbound on highway 32 at highway 19. A 2006 Chevy Uplander LE driven by George Pilkington of Salem was eastbound on highway 32 in the left turn lane. The Chevy Uplander LE made a left turn on a flashing yellow arrow light and made contact Pilkington stated he was distracted briefly by reaching down in the seat to get his cellular phone. Both witnesses confirmed that the Chevy Uplander LE made a left turn on a flashing yellow arrow light and turned into the path of the Chevy K-1500 4X4. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Pilkington suffered possible minor injuries and was transported by private means to the Salem Memorial District Hospital for treatment. Swigert and an occupant suffered possible minor injuries and were transported by private means to the Salem Memorial District Hospital for treatment.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their May meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 PM. After approval of the agenda and minutes from the April 19th meeting, Chief Financial Officer Monica Gargus will update the Board with the summary of operations and statistics reports and Chief Nursing Officer Mary Lou Brooks will then present her reports for April. Hospital Administrator Kasey Lucas will give an auxiliary report as well as a legislative update, followed by the Chief of Staff Report. In old business, the Board will address an update on their 2011 strategic planning goals, the Community Health Needs Assessment, and the Ozark Independent Health Alliance (OIHA). The Board will discuss a 2017 committee report and a strategic planning meeting. In new business the Board will consider purchases made for the hospital. The meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors for May is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department released reports involving a shoplifter, theft, and an assault. On Thursday, May 19th at 2:24 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. The report led to the arrest of a 25-year old female of St. James for stealing merchandise valued $76.70. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Later that same afternoon at 4:33, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 700 block of Thomas in reference to a theft. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a diamond ring valued $900 from the bedroom of the residence. The report is under investigation. On Wednesday, May 25th at 12:56 in the early morning, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 800 block of East Third in reference to an assault. The report led to the arrest of a 34-year old male, a 46-year old female and a 37-year old male, all of Salem for disorderly conduct. All three were issued summonses to appear in court and released. On Thursday, May 26th at 1:08 in the early morning, an officer located a 24-year old Salem female in the 600 block of Missouri Highway 19 North that had an active arrest warrant from Dent County. She was taken into custody on the warrant and incarcerated pending a court appearance. The Salem Tigers Basketball is hosting their 1st Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, June 6th at the Spring Creek Country Club, located at 99 Dent County Road 3220 in Salem. Registration is at 8:00 AM with the Shot Gun Start at 8:30 AM and lunch will follow the tournament at the Country Club. The cost is $160 per team, 4 person scramble. There will be green fees, an a limited number of riding carts available for a $20 rental fee. Hole sponsor fee is $100 and there will be individual and team prizes. Mulligans are available @$5 per-limit 2 per person, 8 per team. All teams must pre-register by e-mailing Coach Conrad Prugh at conradprugh@gmail.com or for questions call 247-3113. Proceeds go to benefit Salem Tigers Basketball Program.

Matt Carpenter had four hits and scored three times, Carlos Martinez pitched eight innings and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-0 on Monday. Martinez (5-5) allowed five singles, walked one and struck out eight. Matt Holiday slugged a home run in the game for St. Louis who will be at Milwaukee again tonight at 6:15 on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals have designated infielder Ruben Tejada for assignment in order to make room for Matt Carpenter on the team’s 25-man active roster when he came off the paternity list. The Cards elected to keep Greg Garcia with the major league club.

Eric Hosmer hit a three-run homer after Lorenzo Cain drove in the go-ahead run in a four-run eighth inning and the Kansas City Royals defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 6-2 on Monday night. Cain's single scored Alcides Escobar with the first run of the inning before Hosmer took a pitch from Erasmo Ramirez (6-3) deep to right-center for his 10th home run. The Royals play the Rays tonight at 7:15.

Funeral Mass for Rex A. Bohm of Rolla, age 78, will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 7:00 with Rosary Service at 4:30 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Aurora. Memorials are suggested to the St. Pats Pregnancy Resource Center or PCRMC Hospice.

Funeral services for Lisa Lemons of Rolla, age 47, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the St. James Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 to 1:00 at the Chapel.  Interment will be at the North Lawn Cemetary in Salem. Memorials are suggested to the James and Gahr Mortuary for funeral expenses.
