On Friday, April 1st at about 10:30 in the morning, a traffic stop by Dent County Sheriff's Deputies for an equipment violation was conducted near the 800 block of McArthur Street. The occupants of the vehicle were the target of a short term narcotics investigation. While conducting the traffic stop, it was believed that a passenger, 39-year old Larry D. Breeding of Salem, was secreting suspected methamphetamine on his person. During the course of the investigation, consent was obtained from Breeding to search his person and obtain a urine sample from him. While transporting Breeding to the Dent County Sheriff’s Office, the transporting deputy became aware that Breeding was attempting to destroy an item. Breeding was removed from the patrol car and deputies recovered a plastic baggie containing approximately 13 grams of methamphetamine. As a result of this investigation, Larry D. Breeding was arrested for the Distribution of a Controlled Substance. He is currently being held in the Dent County Jail on a $100,000.00 cash only bond. This information is Just an accusation, not evidence of guilt. The evidence in support of any charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
