The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Thursday morning in the Dent County Courthouse. Rita and Charles DeVore were in to discuss where Dent County Road 5180 ends. There remains a difference of opinion on the issue, but at this time the County’s position is that the north end of the contested 330’ is the end of county road 5180, not at a gate prior to the end of the road. Jeff Norris was in to request grading on Dent County Road 4215 as it has become terribly wash boarded due to log truck traffic. In the road report, District One Commissioner Dennis Purcell said grading would be done on Dent County Roads 5590 and 4210, while brush would be cut on county road 2460. He went on to say a crew was patching chip and seal in various locations, with particular attention to county roads 4180 and 4110. Curley went on to encourage voters that register online or by other means to make sure that they receive their verification from her office within seven business days. She added the Courthouse will be open from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon April 2nd for absentee voting. Commissioner Skiles pointed out that bills were being reviewed and approved. Ameren Missouri filed for a lower natural gas rate with the Missouri Public Service Commission Thursday which means residential customers would pay the lowest Purchased Gas Adjustment (PGA) rates in 16 years. The market-driven proposal calls for a PGA rate of $0.4722 per 100 cubic-feet (Ccf) of natural gas, down by 5.6 percent from the current rate of $0.50/Ccf. If approved by the PSC, the new PGA rate would take effect April 1st of this year. Compared to the rates enacted in October 2015, the proposed PGA would save an average residential customer in the Rolla system, which includes Rolla, Salem and Owensville, would save approximately $1.25 per month. PGA rates have been dropping for the last few years to reflect the wholesale natural gas price decreases caused by growing supplies generated by shale production. Ameren Missouri customers would continue to benefit from the trend under the company's PGA rate proposal. The PGA reflects the wholesale cost of natural gas, the cost of transporting gas to the company’s system plus an adjustment to compensate for varying actual costs in previous periods. Wholesale gas prices aren’t regulated, and price changes are the result of market conditions of supply and demand. Wholesale costs consequently change daily, while the PGA rate is held stable over a period of months.
