The Naturally Meramec Consortium will conduct a regional meeting tonight at the MRPC office at #4 Industrial Drive in St. James from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Guest speaker, Dan Lennon, Director of the Missouri Division of Tourism will speak about the demographics of tourism in our region and Missouri as well as any state marketing programs/opportunities which Consortium members may participate in to better market their businesses. Members will discuss the “Speed Date Night” event, MRPC staff will update Consortium members on the website development, regional trails, Facebook, the NMC brochure and members will have an opportunity to network and sample refreshments.

The City of Salem Board of Alderman will conduct their meeting tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers located at 202 North Washington beginning at 7:00 PM. After approval of the agenda and during the hearing of persons, Kristen DeLuca, with K DeLuca Audit Services, LLC will give her report on the 2014-2015 city audit. In bids, the City of Salem Parks & Recreation Department has requested bids for approximately 72 tons of red shale dirt for the  ball fields. A total of three bids were received and the Parks & Recreation Department would like to present the bids as well as propose to the Board to use the remaining money left over from the $10,000 that was budgeted for this item to improve the outfield grass areas. City of Salem Administrator Ray Walden will then update the Board on various happenings and projects regarding the City of Salem followed by a report from Mayor J.J. Tune. In new and miscellaneous business, the Salem Public Library Board is requesting that the Board of Alderman approve the appointment of Mrs. Natalie Sellers to replace Mrs. Loretta McClure, who tendered her resignation to the Library Board. The Board will then vote to go into closed session to address real estate. The meeting of the City of Salem Board of Alderman is open to the public.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their February meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 PM. After approval of the minutes from the January 29th meeting will be the summary of operations and statistics reports for January. Hospital Administrator Kasey Lucas will then update the Board with an auxiliary report and legislative issues. In old business the Board will address the 2011 strategic planning goals, the Community Health Needs Assessment, the Ozark Independent Health Alliance (OIHA) and there will be an annual bylaw review. During new business the Board will address purchases made for the hospital. The February meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The Salem Area Arts Council is again hosting an ART PARTY on Thursday, February 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center (ONCRC).  This time, we are thinking about hearts, romance, etc., and are encouraging couples to come together for a little adult time! For $40 per couple (or $25 for singles), all supplies are provided—acrylic paints, aprons, brushes, canvas, easel—at this fun event!  Paint a romantic country scene (or a just plain cute one!) and put your own special creative spin to it, then take it home. Led by Danielle Norris, this event for adults does NOT require any talent or previous experience, just a happy spirit and willingness to try. Reservations can be made by calling 247-0279.  Bring your own personal style, your favorite bottle of wine or other beverage, and we do the rest.

The Dent County Historical Society speaker series will continue tonight at the Pizza Inn Courtesy Room starting at 6:00 as Janet Bowles will speak on the community of Lake Spring as well as the schools and the cemeteries. The Salem Lady Tigers jumped on the Willow Springs Lady Bears Monday night and led 32-11 at halftime and cruised to a 62-42 win to go to 6-0 in the SCA Conference and clinch at least a share of the conference crown this year. Payton Curley scored 19 points to pace the Lady Tigers while Baylee Bilyeu added 17 more and Kaleigh Nash scored 12. Salem is now 19-4 on the year and they face Thayer Thursday at 6:00.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will host the Willow Springs Bears tonight in another important SCA contest. Salem enters the game with a 12-10 record and 4-1 in the SCA Conference. You can hear the game on KSMO and online at ksmoradio.com starting at 7:15 with Tiger Talk and Coach Conrad Prugh. The game will also be recorded for Fidelity Local 6.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will be at Ole Miss tonight starting with the pre-game show at 5:30. KSMO will air the first half of the game tonight before going to Salem Tiger Basketball. Missouri enters the game with a 9-16 overall record and 2-10 in the SEC Conference.

The St. Louis Blues will be home tonight to face the Dallas Stars starting at 7:00 at the Scottrade Center. You can hear that game tonight on KSMO Radio on a delayed basis after the Salem Tiger Basketball game. The Blues have won three of their last four games.

Funeral services for Wayne Albert Siems of Salem, age 92, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the Honors Flight-Columbia Missouri Division.

Funeral services for Leonard Thompson of Salem, age 89, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of Salem.

Graveside services for Patricia Ann Thomas of Rolla, age 76, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 at the Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman, Mississippi. Memorials are suggested to the American Kidney Fund in Rockville MD. or www.kidneyfund.org. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.

Funeral services for Elizabeth June “Betty” Selbe, of Viburnum, age 73, will be held Thursday at 5:00 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church at Viburnum. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00. Interment will be in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Emanuel United Methodist Church. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum.

Funeral services for Buren Clark Triplett of Safety Harbor, Florida, age 94, will be held Saturday at 1:00 at the New Harmony Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel in Salem. Interment will be in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Salem. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the New Harmony Baptist Church. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of Salem.

Funeral services for Annie M. Rymer of Salem, age 59, will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem.

 

Funeral services for Reverend “Ben” Bernard Littrell of Rolla will be on Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be Friday, February 19 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Both will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Rolla. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery in Steelville. All arrangements are under the direction of the Britton-Bennet Funeral home in Steelville.
