Former Dent County Commissioner, current Region 3 vice-president of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association and Dent County resident Bobby Simpson announced Tuesday he will file for the position of 143rd District State Representative. The 59-year old Simpson will run as a Republican. The district includes all or portions of Dent, Shannon, Reynolds and Oregon counties. A lifelong cattle producer, Simpson has also served as president of the Dent County Cattlemen and Dent County Farm Bureau, served nine years on the Green Forest R-II School board as well as 14 years as a Dent County commissioner.  Simpson helped defeat the Natural Stream Act in 1990, working with Dent County Farm Bureau. As Dent County commissioner he also led the charge to keep a United Nation’s program known as the Man in Biosphere from being implemented in the Ozarks region in the 1990s by testifying at a congressional hearing that eventually led to the federal government withdrawing the program. Simpson is a gun owner, member of the National Rifle Association and a committee member of the Friends of the NRA chapter who says he will fight to keep our constitutional rights as guaranteed by the United States and Missouri constitutions. With all the regulatory programs that are coming down from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Simpson believed he could no longer sit around and not do something to keep special interest groups and politicians from taking over our rights as property owners. His only promise is to work hard, represent the values of people and never compromise on our liberty, freedom and rights guaranteed by the constitutions of the United States and Missouri. The first day a candidate can file is February 23rd. The primary election is scheduled for August 2nd, while the general election is set for November 8th.
