Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said he appreciated the opportunity to accompany MoDOT District Engineer Preston Kramer, Representative Jeff Pogue & MoDOT Supervisor Bill Sentman during the bridge inspection on Route TT at Sligo, on Route F at Dry Creek and at Holt Creek, on Route FF over Norman Creek and also on Highway 32 over Dry Valley. Skiles added that he would be attending the Meramec Community Enhancement Committee meeting in St. James. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said that she was continuing work on the 2016 budget. The Commissioners set the budget hearing for January 25th at 10:00 am in the Commissioners office with an option to move the location if the number in attendance dictated such. Curley went on to say that she balanced with the treasurer on all accounts for the month of December. Curley also said that Kim Smith had filed for the Dent County Health Board of Trustees and that ballots had been ordered for the March 15th Presidential Preference Primary. Curley reminded voters that if they have had an address change they must contact her office so that their voter identification card information can be updated. Joan Sample from United Country Realty came in and suggested using the old Brick House Grill as an option for the proposed justice center, but the commissioners didn’t feel it would be large enough, but thanked her for her suggestion. Sherri Lea, the Executive Director of the Salem Community Center @ the Armory, was in to discuss the renewal of the contract with the county for rural addressing. She supplied copies of rural addressing statistics from 2008 through 2015 to the Commissioners. The terms were the same as before: $12,000 for the year plus maintenance. The Commissioners approved the contract for 2016 by a vote of 3 to 0.  Joe Webber with Goldberg Group, LLC came in to update the commission on the Jail and Justice Center, and Chief Wana Dubie also discussed bringing a large ball of hemp and holding a peaceful demonstration on April 23rd on the courthouse lawn to bring hemp awareness to the community. Prosecutor Andrew Curley stated he has a right to do so, as long as there is no damage to the lawn. As time becomes closer, the Chief will get with the Prosecutor on details. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 in the Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
