An accident occurred at 4:50 Wednesday afternoon in Dent County on Highway 32 about 500-feet east of the Salem City limits. According to the highway patrol report, a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 50-year old Lesa Harris of Bunker was traveling eastbound on highway 32, traveled off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and struck a tree. The Chrysler PT Cruiser sustained extensive damage and was towed by Whitaker’s of Salem.

The Dent County Health Center Board of Trustees met on June 15th for their regular board meeting. The 2013-2014 audit of the Health Center should be completed by Maloney, Wright and Robbins in a couple of months. The board discussed resealing the parking lot that had been put on hold due to the work on McArthur. They agreed to move forward with the parking lot maintenance at this time. The health center reported they have distributed tick related educational materials and insect repellant towelettes to several local businesses to be handed out to customers. More educational materials are available from the Health Center at 729-3106 if needed. The Health Center also has kept local physicians up to date on the positive measles case that showed up in Branson and also the drug-resistant Tuberculosis case that came through St. Louis in May. These cases pose an extremely low risk to Dent County residents, but do remind everyone to make sure they have received their measles vaccination and get regular testing for TB. The Health Center says food service inspections are up to date and they are in the process of lodging inspections. They also helped a restaurant establishment meet the state guidelines to re-open after a structure fire. Their next meeting will be on July 20th at 5:00 at the Health Center.
