mandatory 4-H & FFA Marketing Meeting is going to be held Thursday, June 25th at 7:00 pm at the old City Hall auditorium. This mandatory meeting is for all kids with a market animal and/or cured meat projects at the Expo this year on July 18th. Anyone else who is interested may come for information on the Expo.

The Dent County Sheriff's Department released some reports. On Thursday, June 11th, the Sheriff's Office received a telephone call in reference to a possibly intoxicated driver on Highway 68. Deputies were dispatched to the area and at approximately 11:25 that night, deputies made contact with the suspect vehicle in the 2200 block of Highway 68. A roadside investigation took place and as a result of that investigation, a 35-year old female of Salem was arrest for DWI - drugs, endangering the welfare of a child in the 2nd degree, possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. On Wednesday, June 17th, at 11:19 at night, a traffic stop was conducted in the 1400 block of Highway 68. Deputies detected the apparent odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded two "roaches", one marijuana packed glass pipe, one package of "Raw" brand organic hemp rolling papers and a digital scale. As a result of their findings, 29-year old Shaun Medlock of Imperial, Missouri, was arrested for possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and the unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Medlock was also wanted on an outstanding warrant. On Saturday, June 20th, at 1:07 in the early morning hours, a vehicle stop was conducted at the intersection of Highway 32 and Carnett Drive. A consent search was granted. As a result of the search, a 44-year old female of Salem, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released a short time later with a citation.

Intercounty Electric Cooperative Association (IECA) will hold their 79th annual membership meeting this Friday, June 26th at the Licking City Park. Registration will be from 8:00 until noon. The business meeting will begin at 10:00 am with the Invocation by Bro. David Gidcumb from New Harmony Church, the Mountain Grove ROTC will post colors and the Baker Family will perform the National Anthem. The guest speaker will be Tom Akers, a retired NASA astronaut. Breakfast, sponsored by the Licking Volunteer Rural Fire Department will be available for purchase at the refreshment building, and a BBQ picnic lunch will be served at 11:30 am. The Baker Family, a bluegrass family group, will provide entertainment at 9:00 am and again at 12:30 pm. There will be something for everyone including, a large craft and business fair for shopping, kids tent that will have a coloring contest for children age eight and under to win a Buddy Bear and kids can get their picture taken with a lineman in a bucket and register to win a bicycle. The Texas County Memorial Hospital, TCMH, is providing a multi-chem-profile for $25 at the health fair and the Metro Business College Medical Program will provide blood pressure checks. Also at the health fair, Rehabilitation Services for the Blind will have eye screenings and the Roby Lions Club will be there with their hearing van. The Tri-County Center for Independent Living, Primaris, AirMedCare Network, MO Veteran’s Home, VFW Veteran’s Benefits and other health related vendors would also have booths to visit. Prize drawings will be held throughout the day and the grand prize, a $600 electric credit will be awarded at 9:45 am. An accident happened Friday afternoon at 4:55 in Dent County on Dent County Road 6510 about 14 miles south of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, 41-year old Edward Smith of Salem was driving a 1998 Ford Windstar southbound when he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway causing the Windstar to go off the roadway and strike a tree. Smith suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Salem Memorial District Hospital by the Salem EMS. Smith was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The vehicle was driven from the scene.

Mark Reynolds provided the tie-breaking RBI hit in the seventh inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals overcame Giancarlo Stanton's 26th homer of the season and held on for a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Xavier Scruggs doubled in two runs and scored the go-ahead run. Jason Heyward belted a solo homer for the Cardinals, who won for the third time in four games. Carlos Martinez (8-3) had nine strikeouts and gave up eight hits and three runs over seven innings. The Cards and Marlins play again tonight starting at 5:15 with the pre-game show on KSMO Radio.

Mike Montgomery tossed this first career shutout and the Seattle Mariners routed the Kansas City Royals 7-0 in the second of a three-game set on Tuesday. Montgomery (2-2) surrendered just four hits with no walks and had a career- high 10 strikeouts. Jeremy Guthrie (5-5) gave up six runs and nine hits over five frames for the Royals, who won the Monday's series opener, 4-1. Kansas City will end their three-game set with the Mariners tonight at 9:10.

St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong will be in charge of Canada's entry for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Hockey Canada made the announcement Monday, giving Armstrong the general manager duties for the team that will compete in a two-week tournament that will feature eight teams in September of 2016.

Funeral services for Euna Hogan of Salem, age 88, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.

Funeral services for Emory Nash of Salem, age 87, will be held today at 1:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel with a Masonic service at 12:30. Visitation will be this morning from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Bettie Jane Stewart of Farmington, age 85, will be held Thursday at 3:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 2:00 until service time. There will be no interment. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA.

Funeral services for Harry Hayes of Salem, age 82, will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday night. Interment will be in the Cavanaugh Cemetery with full military hours. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

A Funeral Mass for Neal Farmer of Murfreesboro, TN, age 56, will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until service time Saturday morning. Interment will be in the St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or PAWS of Murfreesboro. All arrangements are under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville.
