The Dent County Commission met for it’s regular meeting Monday morning at the courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell described the work to be done by work crews would be to add materials and grade Dent County Roads 5680 and 6040 while brush cutting would be done on county roads 5070 and 5110. Purcell went on to report that a man would be traveling to Springfield to get a load of road oil for chip and seal repair. Purcell said he would be attending a South Central Missouri Community Action Agency meeting in Winona tonight. Sam Gorman gave the report for Commissioner Larson who missed the meeting due to a previous commitment. He indicated that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2020, 2030, 3040 and 4330 while brush would be cut on county roads 3240 and 3253. Gorman also said materials would be added to county road 3020 while one man would be screening brown rock. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that annual MRPC Awards Dinner would be held on Thursday, October 29th at the YMCA of the Ozarks near Potosi. He also wanted to remind everyone about the Naturally Meramec meeting sponsored by the Meramec Regional Planning Commission this Friday at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center to promote local agribusiness and tourism starting at 10:00. If anyone would like to attend and didn’t get an invitation, please call Connie Willman at the MRPC at 573-265-2993. At the last commission meeting, it was reported that the Board of Equalization would be meeting on Monday, July 20th starting at 1:00 at the commissioner’s office. There are two appointments scheduled so far. If anyone has questions or concerns about your property’s assessed valuation, please call the Dent County Assessor’s Office first at 729-6010 before making your appointment. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

The Dent County Sheriff's Office released reports. On Thursday, June 11th, a victim walked into the Dent County Sheriff's Office reporting the theft of three cattle. The victim said that an unknown suspect or suspects removed cattle from the property during the week of May 15th thru May 30th. The cattle are valued at $6,000. The investigation continues. Also on that Thursday, the sheriff's office received a telephone call in reference to a possibly intoxicated driver on Highway 68. Deputies were dispatched to the area. At approximately 11:25 pm, deputies made contact with the suspect vehicle in the 2200 block of Highway 68. A short roadside investigation took place and as a result a 35-year old female of Salem was arrest for DWI - Drugs, Endangering the Welfare of a Child 2nd Degree, Possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Anyone with any information regarding the theft of cattle is asked to contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Office by calling 729-3241.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their June meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and the minutes from the May 19th meeting, the board will hear the summary of operations and statistics reports for May followed by the nursing and ancillary reports. Hospital Administrator Dennis Pryor will update the Board on the auxiliary report, the hospital activity calendar and legislative issues. In old business the Board will address the 2011 strategic planning goals update, discuss the Community Health Needs Assessment, review the Ozark Independent Health Alliance (OIHA) activities and the discuss the 2016 budget before its approval. During new business, the Board will address purchases made for the hospital and there will be an election of officers. The June meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

Roadwork continues in the KSMO listening area. In Dent County, roadway sealing will take place this week on Route C between Highway 32 and Highway 72. Roadway sealing will take place this week on Route O between Highway 72 and Route C in Dent County. In Phelps County, the bridge replacement continues on Highway 8 over Dry Fork Creek just south of St. James. The contractor will install base rock for the roadway and perform roadway-grading operations this week. Minimal traffic interruptions are expected. Yadier Molina homered for the first time this season and John Lackey worked eight strong innings for the St. Louis Cardinals, who won their fourth in a row with a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Mark Reynolds connected three pitches ahead of Molina in the fourth, giving the Cardinals back-to-back homers. Jon Jay drove in Randal Grichuk who tripled, singled and scored for St. Louis as the Cardinals are now 42-21 overall and 25-7 at home -- both major league bests. The Cardinals will play Minnesota today at 11:50 on KSMO Radio.

Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar each knocked in two runs, and the Kansas City Royals held on for an 8-5 win over the Milwaukee Brewers to give Ned Yost a sweet return to Miller Park. The Royals spotted Edinson Volquez an early 5-0 lead and were up 8-2 entering the ninth, then withstood a late charge from the home team to prevail in Yost's first game in Milwaukee since being abruptly fired as the Brewers' manager during a pennant race in September of 2008. The Royals will play Milwaukee at 7:10 tonight.

The Kansas City Royals dominance in the balloting for the American League's All-Star team has increased in the latest tabulations, with the defending league champions now in line to have eight of the nine starters for the upcoming Midsummer Classic. Omar Infante joined teammates Salvador Perez, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon and Kendrys Morales as leaders at their respective positions. Kansas City's eight projected starters would set an All-Star Game record if the voting holds. The 2015 All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

There will be a Girls Basketball Camp from June 22nd through the 24th at the Salem Upper Elementary Gym. Girls in Grades 5 through 8 will meet from 9:00 to 11 in the morning, while girls in grades 9 through 12 will meet from 11:00 in the morning until 1:00 in the afternoon. The price of the camp is $20 and all girls can sign up on the first day, June 22nd, at the Salem Upper Elementary Gym.

Funeral services for Sylvia Ellen Green of Jefferson City, age 79, will be held today at 12:00 noon at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until service time at the chapel. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dent County Animal Welfare Society.

Memorial service for Dennis Lesley Schafer, age 61, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Green Forest Cemetery.

Funeral services for Debbie Lynn Dabbs Law Jones of Steelville, age 49, will be held Saturday at 1:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time.

Funeral services for Catherine Stokes of Salem, age 81, will be held Monday at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
