The Dent County Commissioners met Thursday morning for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said materials would be added and grading done on Dent County Roads 5420 and 6670. He also reported that repairs to county roads 4120 and 6300 that are chip and sealed would also be done. Purcell indicated that patch grading was done on a few roads that needed minor repairs from the rains over the weekend in southeast Dent County. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson reported brush would be cut on Dent County Roads 3170 and 2220, and grass would be cut around the maintenance shed. Larson stated one worker would be screening brown rock, another would be servicing truck #72 and another would be changing the grader blade and tires on grader #32. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles attended the SACBA board meeting Monday and he reported the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center would now be stocking David Plank color prints, plus SACBA agreed to purchase a new credit card machine. Skiles reported on the CCAM meeting from Tuesday and said that it appears a 15-cent increase in the assessment reimbursement for counties that will be sent to Governor Nixon for his approval. Skiles also said the county Board of Equalization meetings would be held July 20th. Commissioner Larson brought to the attention of the commission that Public Administrator Jim Kotchedoff would be undergoing medical treatments in St. Louis five days a week and the commission will need to figure out what needed to be done to cover his position during that time. Bids for the grader blades were due at 10:00 Thursday and four bids were received. The lowest bid and the one approved by the commission was from Fabick for $18,578.56. At 11:00, Jennifer Wilson from Nform Architect came in to visit with the commission about justice centers her firm has built. The next meeting of the Dent County Commission will be Monday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse.

An accident occurred at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon in Dent County on Lincoln Avenue in Bunker. According to the highway patrol report, a 1986 Moto 4 All-Terrain vehicle driven by 14-year old Cordell Conway of Bunker was traveling west with 15-year old Dakota Barker on the handlebars. Barker fell off and was run over by the all-terrain vehicle. Barker suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial Hospital by the Salem ambulance. The all-terrain vehicle sustained no damage.

An accident occurred at 5:42 pm on Wednesday in Phelps County on I-44 about three miles west of Rolla. According to the highway patrol report, a 2002 Freightliner Tractor driven by 44-year old Raul Villanueva-Alcala of El Paso, Texas was stopped in the roadway due to another incident when a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 38-year old William McKellips of Cook Station struck the freightliner from behind. McKellips suffered minor in juries and was taken by EMS to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. The Freightliner sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The Chevrolet Trailblazer was totaled and removed from the scene by Ron Dishman Towing of Rolla.

The Salem Tiger Tennis team defeated Willow Springs in the District 9 Championship on Thursday to win its 2nd district title in 3 years. This moves Salem to 12-2 on the year. Next up for Salem will be the Individual Tournament hosted by Salem starting at 9:00 this morning. Congratulations Tigers!!

The Rolla Bulldogs scored nine runs in the first inning and cruised to a 13-0 win over Salem in the final regular season game Thursday. Salem finished the regular season with a 12-12 record and they will face Owensville today in the first round of District play. Matt Carpenter's two-run shot in the eighth inning was the difference as St. Louis nipped Cleveland by a 2-1 count in the rubber match of this three-game interleague set. Mark Reynolds, Kolten Wong and Yadier Molina each collected two hits for the Cardinals. Kevin Siegrist (2-0) tossed two scoreless innings of relief, while Trevor Rosenthal struck out three in the ninth to earn his 12th save. The Cardinals will play Detroit tonight starting at 6:20 on KSMO.

Alcides Escobar finished with three hits and drove in three runs as Kansas City downed Texas by a 6-3 count in the finale of a four-game series. Eric Hosmer added a two-run homer among his three hits for the Royals, who received two hits each from Kendrys Morales, Omar Infante and Drew Butera while Alex Gordon drove in the other run. Jeremy Guthrie (3-2) allowed two runs on six hits over five innings. Greg Holland left two on in the ninth but still captured his seventh save. The Royals will host the Yankees starting tonight.

Funeral services for Betty Jean Gilliam of Cuba, age 74, will be held today at 1:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Interment will be in the Czar Cemetery in Viburnum.

Funeral services for Kenneth Frank Spencer, of Salem, age 87, will be held Saturday at 10:30 at the Montauk Baptist Church. Visitation is tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 at Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Montauk Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Clarence Humphrey of Salem, age 85, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Masonic services will start at 11:00 am.

Memorial services for Mary E. King of Salem, age 78, will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the Mt. Hermon Church. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of Salem.

Funeral services for Phyllis Ann Callahan (nee Gravatt) of Ballwin, formerly of Steelville, age 87, will be held Sunday at 2:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 Saturday. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Steelville Cemetery.

Funeral services for Ruby King of Rolla, age 91, will be held Monday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Ozark Memorial Garden. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Rolla Scholarship Fund.

Funeral services for Alma Pauline Jordan of Salem, age 76, will be held Monday at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Corridon Reynolds Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jordan Family.

Memorial services for Toni S. Charland of Salem, age 60, will be held Tuesday at 7:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 5:00 until service time. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 99 Auxiliary.
