NEWS    Friday, April 3, 2015

missourinetThe Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Thursday morning in the Dent County Courthouse. Dick Kitchen was in on behalf of the Current River Cruisers Car Club to request permission to use the Courthouse Square on Saturday, June 20th for the Club’s car show. The request was approved 3-0. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 4080, 4090, 5360, 5380, 6633, and 6670, while chip and seal repairs would take place on county roads 4110, 4220, and 4240. Purcell encouraged drivers to be extra cautious as the county crews make road repairs. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2150, 3337, 4060, 5225 and materials would be hauled to county road 4280. He went on to say that work was being done on a creek crossing as well on county road 4280. Larson added that he had a man screening brown rock at the road and bridge department, and a man was using the sweeper on chip and seal roads. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles noted that last Thursday he attended the Meramec Regional Emergency Management meeting in St. James. He stated that next Wednesday, emergency management personnel would conduct a tabletop exercise at the MRPC and the scenario would be a train accident near the St. James School. Skiles went on to say that all three commissioners attended the Secure Schools Act Reauthorization meeting at the Plato Schools with Congressman Jason Smith. The Reauthorization for 2014 and 2015 has passed the House of Representatives and has been sent on to the Senate. Passage there looks to be promising, however it is attached to some other legislation so the final outcome remains to be seen. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reminded voters of next Tuesday’s election and that the polls will open at 6:00 am and close at 7:00 pm. She also noted that the Courthouse is open for voting this Saturday from 8:00 am until noon and that absentee voting will continue until 5:00 pm Monday. Curley went on to say that she balanced with the Dent County Collector and Dent County Assessor on monthly collections, abatements, and add-ons for the month of March. She also stated that she balanced with the Dent County Treasurer on all accounts for March. Curley noted that bills were being approved. At 9:30 bids were opened. Only one bid was received for the used 2013 Ford Interceptor Utility Vehicle and it was from Busch and Associates, LLC of Olathe, Kansas and that bid was for $24,995. The lease/purchase bids for the 2013 Ford were opened. All bids were for $27,000 for three years with three annual payments. Progressive Ozark Bank bid 2.37% with $150 documentation fee, Town and Country Bank bid 1.91% with $213.50 preparation and title fees, US Bank bid 1.48% with no fees and the Bank of Salem bid 1.49% with no fees. The Commissioners voted 3-0 to accept the US Bank bid of 1.48% and 3-0 to accept the Busch and Associates, LLC Bid.   Relative to the bids that were submitted last Thursday for the new 2015 Ford Utility Police Interceptor from Republic Ford and Lincoln, the Commissioners approved 3-0 the purchase as well as the lease/purchase financing from the Bank of Salem at 1.49% with no fees. The purchase amount was $26,803, which reflected a $2,000 savings allowed by Republic Ford using the vehicle for a demonstrator for 30 days. The next meeting of the Commissioners is Monday at 9:00 in the Dent County Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
