Attention Ladies! Girls Night Out will be held Thursday March 23rd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Salem Community Center @the Armory. Attendees will get to experience different vendors, prizes giveaways, free samples, door prizes, massages, food samples and more! Admission for Ladies 12 and over is $5. To enter for a chance to win a $300, $150, or a $50 Amazon Gift card bring in any canned goods or non-perishable food item to be donated to Sacred Heart Food Pantry. The Salem Area Arts Council will be hosting the monthly community acoustic jam at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center on Saturday, March 25th starting at 6:30. Everyone is invited to come and play along or just listen. The Ozark Natural and Cultural Resouce Center is located at 202 South Main. For more information call 247-0279.

Walk, Waddle or Run 5K, sponsored by The Dent County Health Center will be held on Saturday, April 1st at 9:00 am starting at the SBU Campus parking lot and ending at the Dent County Health Center at 601 South McArthur. Participants will receive a T-shirt and be eligible for prizes with a paid registration. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under, with a paid adult registration. Registration deadline is Thursday, March 23rd.

Come out and watch the Non Newlywed Game hosted by Healthy Dent County at the Salem Community Center @the Armory, Saturday April 1st. The doors will be open at 6:30 pm that evening with the game show starting at 7:00 pm. A table of six can be sponsored for $250 or single tickets can be purchased for $25 dollars, tickets include light refreshments. They will also have a cash bar that evening. Sponsored tables and tickets can be purchased at the Salem Community Center @the Armory. For more information of the event call 729-8163.

The Salem Community Center @ the Armory will be offering two free cooking classes and the opportunity to learn how to cook healthy and delicious meals on a budget. The classes are to be taught by Laura Short, Culinary Specialist Senior Chief Petty Officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. The classes will take place on Tuesday, April 4th and Wednesday, April 5th from 5:30-6:30 pm both days. The classes will be offered at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory, 1200 West Rolla Road in Salem. Participants will receive free samples, a recipe, and free bag of food to take home. The Current River Scrappers Quilt Guild is always accepting new members. We have a diverse group with all ages and skill levels. We love to share our knowledge and teach others to quilt.  What better way for a beginner to learn and develop their skills than to spend time with someone who has been quilting for years!  The Guild takes an active role in providing quilts to veterans and wounded soldiers through our Community Quilt Projects.  They’ve provided more than 100 quilts to veteran’s and wounded warriors and will be raffling a patriotic themed quilt to raise money for supplies to make future quilts for this program. The Guild meets the second Monday of each month at the Bank of Salem Courtesy Room on 4th Street in Salem at 7:00 p.m.  Please, feel free to join us for a meeting and see what we’re all about.  If you would like to join the Guild the membership is just $10 annually.  For more information contact Tressa Schafer by calling 729-8102.
