The City of Salem Board of Aldermen will hold their regular meeting tonight at 7:00 in the City Hall Council Chambers. After roll call and a hearing of persons, bids will be reviewed for the spreader box, 2-post lift, and the catering for the awards banquet. After approval of the consent agenda, the Director of Public Works and Engineering will give his reports, as well as the City Administrator. Mayor Gary Brown will then also give his report. In new and miscellaneous business, the Board will look to update the residential yard waste policy. The Board will then review and approve bills. The regular meeting of the City of Salem Board of Aldermen is open to the public.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors monthly meeting was held Thursday evening in the Hospital Library. Administrator Pryor congratulated Board Chairman Leon Kreisler on receiving an Agricultural Achievement Award from Governor Jay Nixon.  Controller Stephanie Wofford stated that for the month of September there was an excess of expenses over revenues of  $131,252. Carol Lacy gave the Director of Nursing report for September. There were 60 acute care patients admitted, 831 emergency room visits for the month, 168 ambulance runs, 24 surgery cases, 169 home health visits, 9,346 lab tests, 970 radiological procedures, 185 CT scans, 25 MRI scans, 8 nuclear med scans, 497 rehab treatments, 1,705 cardiopulmonary procedures, 219 dialysis treatments and 371 clinical visits. Lacy congratulated the Home Health Agency on receiving the Member of Home Health Care Elite Top 100 designation for the fourth year in a row. The agency is one of only three hospitals in Missouri to receive this National Award from over 9,700 hospitals. Lacy also gave the in patient call light report for the first quarter of the fiscal year. There is an average of 52 call lights per day with a 2 minute 54 second response time. Staff is present in the patient rooms an average of 6 minutes per event and just over four hours per day. Pryor reported that the hospital auxiliary would have a Masquerade Jewelry Sale on November 3^rd and 4^th and then the Holiday Home Tour on December 4^th.  In the construction update, work is progressing on the Long Term Care expansion with the insulation and sheetrock work to begin next week. Pryor gave the ER Patient and Inpatient Satisfaction results for the first quarter of the fiscal year. There were 154 ER responses and 29 inpatient responses with nearly 100 percent satisfaction in all areas. Pryor said that the hospital continues to gather information for the hospice program that could begin the first of next year. The next health screening will be held on February 8^th and 9^th, 2012. Assistant Administrator Kasey Lucas updated the board on the Electronic Medical Record conversion. Carol Lacy updated the board on the TeleHealth capabilities of the hospital as Dr. Hess, Dr. Higano and Dr. Garcia are currently seeing patients each month from offices at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. There were a total of 18 patients visited with this month. The board approved the budgeted purchase of three slot barcode scanners from SHI for $256 and eight port managed GB switches from Directec for $320 both for the information systems. The board approved a list of surplus items that will be sold. The board then went into closed session.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDot) has announced the roadwork that will continue in our area this week. In Dent County, bridge maintenance will take place on the Highway 72 bridge over the Dry Fork Creek just south of Route C. In Crawford County, roadway maintenance and repair will take place today through Thursday on Route E between Route 8 and end of state maintenance and on Route BB between Route 8 and end of state maintenance. Roadway maintenance and repair in the westbound lanes of Interstate 44 between mile markers 202 and 224 will take place on Thursday. The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will be playing in the first round of the District Tournament in Union tonight. Salem will be facing second seeded Owensville at 6:15.

Derek Holland, facing a Cardinals club that scored 16 runs the night before, twirled 8 1/3 scoreless innings to carry Texas to a 4-0 victory in Game 4 Sunday, evening the World Series at 2-2. Albert Pujols, fresh off tying World Series records with three home runs and six RBI in Game 3, went hitless in four at-bats, while David Freese saw his 13-game hitting streak come to an end. Game 5 can be heard tonight at 6:00 on KSMO.

Joseph Randle ran for three touchdowns to help Oklahoma State earn a 45-24 win against Missouri at Faurot Field. Missouri quarterback James Franklin was intercepted three times and fumbled the ball away once, negating much of the work accomplished by the Tigers' offense, which gained 463 total yards.

Carlo Colaiacovo's late second-period goal proved to be the game-winner as the St. Louis Blues beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 at Wells Fargo Center Saturday night. The Blues play at the Vancouver Canucks Wednesday night.

DeMarco Murray erupted for a franchise-best 253 yards rushing as Dallas dispatched St. Louis, 34-7, at Cowboys Stadium. Subbing for injured Sam Bradford, A.J. Feeley finished 20-of-33 for 196 yards and an interception for the Rams (0-6), who have dropped nine of their last 10 dating back to last year.

Brandon Flowers finished with two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and the Kansas City defense totaled six interceptions, as the Chiefs took down the Oakland Raiders 28-0 Sunday afternoon.

Graveside service for William Dale Gibbs of Warrenton and formerly of Salem, age 85, will be held today at 11:00 in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Association. All Arrangements are under the direction of the Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton.

Funeral services for Howard O. Morton of Salem, age 92, will be held today at 1:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Funeral services for Lela C. League of Salem, age 89, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held tonight from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.

Funeral services for Kennith E. Hunter of Salem, age 88, will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. 

Ronald Lee Baum age 48, passed away October 19th. No services will be held. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem.
