The City of Salem Board of Alderman will hold their meeting tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers located at 202 North Washington beginning at 7:00 pm. After the call to order, the roll call, the hearing of persons will be the consent agenda that will include the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting and as well as reviewing the reports from the electric department, the street department and from the animal/nusance officer. Unfinished business will include a discussion of The Commons water bill that the Fall Festival Association has accrued over a three-month period due to a water leak. In reports of city officials, boards and committees; Sean Curley, the Chairman of the Salem Planning & Zoning Board, will give a report on the meeting held prior to the Board meeting regarding the closing of the dead-end portion of Beezley Street, west of Phillips Avenue that was requested by Otto and Christa Bobbinger. The Alderman Bill Riley, Jim Jackson and Alderman Mike Whitley would like to discuss miscellaneous items involving the city. Alderman Jim McDaniels would also like to discuss the Community Wide Yard Sale as well as miscellaneous items. Mayor Gary Brown will also give his report. In the introduction of bills, Bill #3086, an ordinance to rename Alberta Drive in Monegan Heights to Red Bud Lane and Bill #3087, an ordinance to authorize the Mayor to execute a contract between the City of Salem and Corporate Cost Solutions Inc. to audit payroll, personnel records and insurance policies pertaining to workers compensation insurance. In new business, Corporate Cost Solutions, Inc. has approached the City to perfrom audits of the City's payroll, personnel records and insurance policies pertaining to workers compensation insurance. After the approval of bills the Board may then go into closed session for the discussion of personnel, real estate and litigation. The meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board at 6:30 and the Board of Aldermen meeting at 7:00 are both open to the public.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will host their Annual Banquet & Awards Ceremony on November 16 at the Commons. The Chamber is now taking nominations for Citizen of the Year, Teen of the Year, and the Lifetime Achievement Awards. The winners for 2005 were: Citizen of the Year: Mary Ann Gustin, Teen of the Year: Zachary Happel, Lifetime Achievement: Bob & Meredith Parsons. An accident happened in Dent County on Highway 19 about four miles north of Salem on Sunday around 2:15 in the afternoon. According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1987 Chevrolet driven by 51-year old Ernest Valdez of Salem, lost control in a curve causing his vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway where the vehicle overturned in the ditch. Valdez suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial Hospital by EMS. The Chevrolet sustained extensive damage and was towed by Whitakers Towing of Salem.

Josh Brown's 54-yard field goal as time expired gave the Seattle Seahawks a 30-28 victory over the St. Louis Rams at Edward Jones Dome. Marc Bulger went 26-for-39 with 360 yards, three touchdowns and one interception and Torry Holt finished with eight catches for 154 yards and three touchdowns for the Rams (4-2), who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Holt, who now has 10,013 receiving yards, is the fastest player in history to reach the 10,000-yard receiving mark.

Ben Roethlisberger threw his first two touchdown passes of the campaign and Willie Parker slashed the Chiefs defense for 109 yards and two touchdowns as Pittsburgh pounded Kansas City, 45-7, at Heinz Field. Larry Johnson managed only 26 yards on 15 carries with the club's lone touchdown. Damon Huard passed for 162 yards on 16-of-32 threw the air for the Chiefs, who saw a two-game winning streak come to an end.

The Salem Tigers accumulated over 500 yards in offense en route to a 38-14 win over the Mountain View-Liberty Eagles Friday night. Solomon McNeal, Yousef Ibrahim, Matt Whitaker, Billy Jackson and Warren Ingersoll all scored for the Tiger who move to 6-1 on the year. Jackson finished with 207 yards on 19 carries and Whitaker had 128 yards on 15 carries for the Tigers who will be at Rogersville on Friday night.

Carlos Delgado belted a home run and finished with five runs batted in, as the New York Mets crushed the St. Louis Cardinals, 12-5, to even the best-of-seven NLCS at two games apiece. Carlos Beltran went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four runs scored while David Wright also homered for the Mets. David Eckstein, Jim Edmonds and Yadier Molina all hit home runs for the Cardinals. Game 5 is scheduled to be played on Monday at Busch Stadium. Southpaw Tom Glavine is slated to start for the Mets, while the Cards will counter with right-hander Jeff Weaver.

Radek Dvorak's third-period goal proved to be the game winner as St. Louis defeated Chicago, 4-3, at the Scottrade Center. Devorak also added an assist and Lee Stempniak had two helpers for the Blues. Manny Legace stopped 19-of-22 shots in net for the Blues. Jamie Rivers, Bill Guerin and Martin Rucinsky had the other goals for a St. Louis team that has now won two in a row. The Blues host Phoenix on Tuesday night.

Jorvorskie Lane rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown, as Texas A&M edged No. 19 Missouri, 25-19, in a tight battle at Kyle Field. Chase Daniel finished 21-of-29 for 295 yards with a score for the Tigers (6-1, 2-1). William Franklin had four catches for 119 yards and a TD, but had a key fumble.

Gary James Tune of Salem, age 58, passed away October 10th in Lebanon. Mr. Tune was cremated and a private interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Gary Tune Family and arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary.

Funeral services for Norma Ruth Limbaugh of Viburnum, age 81, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown, Missouri. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Viburnum Freewill Baptist Church in Viburnum, and on Wednesday from 11:00 until service time at the Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
