The Dent County Sheriff’s Department reports that on December 28th, a knock and talk investigation was conducted in the 200 block of Dent County Road 6190. A consent search of the residence revealed there was presence of methamphetamine and items used in the manufacturing process of the controlled substance. As a result of the search, Robert Hendrix was arrested and was charged with the manufacture of a controlled substance and possession. He is currently being held in the Dent County Jail on $75,000 cash only bond. Later that same evening, deputies with the Dent County Sheriff's Office with help from the Missouri Department of Conservation executed a search warrant at the 1000 block of Dent County Road 2070. Methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia were located as a result of the search. Four persons were arrested and charged. They include Billy Woolman, who was charged with the distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child; Nikki Smith, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child; Rhonda Yelton, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child; and John Smith, who was charged with possession of controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. All four were incarcerated at the Dent County Jail.
An accident occurred at 3:30 Friday afternoon in Dent County on Highway 32 about fifteen miles east of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 47-year old Darren Jimerson of Salem slowed to a stop in the roadway due to an oncoming vehicle in it’s lane, when a 2001 Hyundai Tiberon driven by 29-year old Samantha Alcorn of Salem was unable to stop, began sliding, and struck the rear of the Chevrolet. Alcorn suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. Everyone involved was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Chevrolet sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The Hyundai sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing.
The Salem Police Department released their reports of burglary, property damage and theft. On Friday, December 21st at 9:30 in the morning, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 300 block of East Truman in reference to a burglary. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown entered a residence by force and took two shotguns and a space heater valued at $1200. Later that morning at 10:07, an officer was contacted near Lough Lane in reference to property damage. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown drove into a fence causing about $400 in property damage. At 3:00 that afternoon, an officer was called at the Salem Police Department in reference to a forgery. That investigation revealed that a 26-year old female of Salem had stolen four checks, forged them and cashed them in the amount of $425.00. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect who was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. On Saturday, December 22nd at 2:51 in the morning, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 22-year old male of Salem for driving while intoxicated. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Later that morning at 8:52, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. The investigation of the report revealed a video showing the suspect stealing merchandise valued at $44.91. At 10:12 pm, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. That investigation led to the arrest of a 24-year old female of Steelville on five active arrest warrants from Crawford County. The suspect was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. On Sunday, December 23rd at 2:53 in the afternoon, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 37-year old male of Salem for driving while having his license revoked. The suspect was released and an application for a warrant was made. Anyone with information regarding the burglary, property damage and theft, which are still under investigation, is asked to contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.

Savannah Hanning netted 20 points as the Salem Lady Tigers beat Eugene in their final game of the Lebanon Holiday Tournament on Saturday, 59-56. Kaytlyn Wells added 12 points for the Lady Tigers, who move to 6-5 on the year. Salem will play at Bunker on Wednesday.
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be back in action Wednesday night in the Owensville Tournament. Salem is seeded 5th in the tournament and will face Hermann starting at 5:30. Salem enters the game with a 2-5 record. The winner will play Friday night at 6:00 while the loser will play Thursday night at 6:00.
Shabazz Muhammad netted a game-high 27 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime, as UCLA hung on for a 97-94 win over 7th ranked Missouri on Friday at Pauley Pavilion. Phil Pressey scored a team-high 19 points and handed out a school-record 19 assists, while Laurence Bowers netted 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Missouri (10-2), which had a six-game winning streak snapped. Keion Bell dropped 17 points with six rebounds and Earnest Ross and Jabari Brown donated 16 and 14 points, respectively, in the setback. Missouri will host Bucknell on Saturday.
Russell Wilson added to his case for NFL Rookie of the Year, completing 15-of-19 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for the game-winning score to lift the Seattle Seahawks to a 20-13 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Sam Bradford was 25-for-42 passing for 252 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Rams (7-8-1), who haven't made the playoffs since 2004 and haven't finished above .500 since 2003.
Peyton Manning threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns as the Denver Broncos locked up the top seed in the AFC and home field advantage on Sunday with a 38-3 thumping of the Kansas City Chiefs at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Jamaal Charles rushed for 53 yards on 14 carries. He finished the regular season with 1,509 rushing yards, becoming just the third player in Chiefs history to eclipse the 1,500-yard mark. Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson also accomplished the feat. Brady Quinn struggled under center, completing just 7-of-16 passes for 49 yards for Kansas City (2-14), which will have the top pick in April's draft.

Graveside services for Charles Franklin Dace of Sullivan, age 67, will be held on Thursday at 1:00 at the Mill Creek Cemetery in Wayne County. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Viburnum. Interment will be in the Mill Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family of Charles Dace.
James Daniel Schwartz, age 80, of Salem passed away Friday. Mr. Schwartz’ wishes were to be cremated. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary.
