The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released a report for Saturday, December 26^th at 7:19 pm. According to their report, a deputy was northbound on Highway 72 and observed a red Mazda truck in front of him. After requesting a plate check of the vehicle the deputy was informed the license plate checked back to a 1989 Chevy. After the emergency lights were activated near Salem Memorial District Hospital the vehicle started pulling over onto the shoulder of the road but did not stop but kept driving on the shoulder of the road for about 1.5 miles. While driving on the shoulder of the road, the deputy could see the driver making movement in the front seat as to try and find or hide an item. The driver who was later identified as Allen Bolin took out his wallet gave the officer his driver’s license but stated that he did not have insurance on the vehicle. Knowing Mr. Bolin has had prior drug charges for methamphetamine, the deputy asked if he anything illegal in the car. The deputy observed a corner of a plastic baggie containing numerous small white pills. Mr. Bolin was asked what was in that baggie and was told not to reach for it. Mr. Bolin reached down and picked the baggie up. The car door was opened and the deputy took the tablets from Bolin, and he was handcuffed immediately and secured in the patrol car. Mr. Bolin told the deputy that he had no idea what the tablets were. The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle while conducting a MULES check on his driving status. Mr. Bolin granted consent to search his vehicle. A consent search of his vehicle revealed a small black drawstring pouch. Inside that pouch was a small tin box and a small glass smoking device with residue. Inside the small tin box was a plastic baggie containing a white crystalline powder. The white crystalline powder in the plastic baggie and the residue inside the pipe field-tested positive for methamphetamine.  Mr. Bolin was placed under arrest at 7:32 pm and a request went to Whitakers Towing to the location. An inventory search of the vehicle revealed a white duffel bag containing an XBOX gaming system and portable DVD player. Also found was a soft gray case containing numerous keys, and knifes. The white duffel bag and contents along with the gray case and contents were seized for investigation. The soft gray case will be turned over to Mr. Bolin, but the white duffel bag and contents will be held as evidence for possible stolen property. While waiting for Whitakers to arrive Mr. Bolin was asked what took him so long to pull over. He told the deputy he was trying to find that black pouch. The vehicle was towed from the scene and Mr. Bolin was transported to the Dent County Jail and was charged with one felony count of possession of controlled substance and a $10,000 cash only bond.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving disorderly conduct, theft and an assault. On Sunday, December 27^th at 3:30 am an officer was detailed to the 300 block of West Fifth Street in reference to a disturbance that led to the arrest of a 46-year old man from Bowling Green for disorderly conduct. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was incarcerated. At 10:30 that morning, an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of East Third Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a 1991 Ford Escort from the residence. At 11:00 that morning, the Missouri State Highway Patrol recovered the vehicle abandoned in Phelps County. That evening at 9:15, an officer responded to the Salem Bowling Lanes on Highway 32-72 East in reference a stolen skateboard. The investigation of the report revealed that a known subject took the skate board without permission and left the premises. The subject, a 17-year old Salem man, was later located during a vehicle stop and placed under arrest on the stealing incident. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. During the vehicle stop, the investigation led to the arrest of a 26-year old Salem man for supplying intoxicants to minors and an open alcohol container. He was placed under arrest, issued summons to appear in court and was released. On Monday, December 28^th at 8:40 in the morning, an officer was detailed to North Grand to the Salem Treatment Center reference to an assault that led to the arrest of a 37-year old man from Springfield for the assault. He was placed under arrest, issued a summons to appear in court and was released. Anyone with information on the stolen vehicle is asked to contact the Salem Police at 729-4242.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports. On Wednesday, December 16^th at 6:29 pm. A phone call was received by the Sheriff's Office regarding a prescription being stolen from a motor vehicle located on Highway 19 South. The caller identified himself to as Jamie Schwartz. Mr. Schwartz advised that an unknown person or persons removed a bottle of generic Percocet from the glove box of his 1990 Chevrolet truck while it was parked at the residence. Mr. Schwartz further advised that this incident occurred with the hour of the phone call. On Thursday, December 17^th 1:30 pm, Mr. Schwartz arrived at the Sheriff’s Office and completed a written statement. The statement further advised that Mr. Schwartz and his son, Nick, arrived home at 5:15 pm, parked his truck and went inside to wait for his wife.  At 6:00 pm when Mr. Schwartz went to leave the location, he entered his vehicle to find the glove box open and his generic Percocet prescription missing.  Mr. Schwartz states that he believed there to be 30-40 generic Percocet pills in the bottle that was taken.
