The Salem Police Department released their reports involving shoplifting and property damage. On December 20th 1:30 p.m. an officer was detailed to the 200 block of Highway 19 North in reference to property damage. The report revealed person(s) unknown had broken the driver window from a 1999 Chevrolet pickup. The damage occurred between 1:30 that morning and 1:30 that afternoon. Also on Saturday, December 20th at 3:20 p.m. an officer was detailed to Wal-Mart in reference to shoplifting. The report led to the arrest of a 58-year old Salem woman for stealing $73.51 worth of merchandise. Subject was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Anyone with any information regarding the property damage report, which is still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

An accident happened at 3:15 Monday afternoon in Dent County on Route C about two miles east of Anutt. According to the highway patrol report, a 2007 Chevrolet Truck driven by 66-year old Lloyd Headrick of Rolla was traveling westbound on Route C. Headrick crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road. The Chevrolet returned to the road and ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch. Headrick suffered minor injuries and declined treatment at the scene. He was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Chevrolet sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Whitaker Towing of Salem.     

An accident happened at 9:50 Tuesday morning in Dent County on Highway F about 15 miles southwest of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 33-year old Angela Frizzell of Salem was traveling south on Highway F when Frizzell lost control on the ice-covered roadway. The Chevrolet traveled off the right side of the roadway, entered a ditch and overturned off the roadway. Frizzell suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital by the Salem EMS. She was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Chevrolet sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Whitaker Towing.  

An accident happened Tuesday at 11:28 in the morning in Dent County on Highway 72 about 3 miles north of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, 20-year old Stephanie Culberson of Salem was driving a 1995 Ford Aerostar when she lost control on the ice-covered roadway, slid off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. Suffering minor injuries in the accident were Culberson who was wearing a seat restraint, passengers 31-year old Henry Keel, 38-year old Ava Medley and 25-year old Chris Roberts, all of Salem. None of the passengers were wearing a seat restraint. All the passengers and the driver were all taken by the Salem EMS to the Salem Memorial Hospital. The vehicle sustained moderate damages and was towed by Whitakers Towing of Salem.

An accident happened in Texas County Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 on Highway 63 about five miles north of Houston that took the life of a Houston man. According to the highway patrol report, 51-year old Edward Hayes of Houston was driving a 2002 Ford Escape southbound when he lost control on the ice-covered roadway and went into north bound lane and struck head-on a 1998 Volvo driven by 52-year old Larry J. Koller of Salem. After the impact, the Volvo traveled over the centerline and struck a 2002 Chevy Cavalier driven southbound by 22-year old Robert Hart of Licking. Hayes was pronounced dead at the scene by Texas County Coroner Tom Whitaker and his body was taken to the Evans Funeral Home in Houston. Robert Hayes suffered serious injuries, Koller suffered moderate injuries, and a did a passenger in the Ford Escape, 21-year old Ryan Brown of Yukon suffered moderate injuries. All three injured persons were taken to the Texas County memorial Hospital in Houston by the Texas County EMS. All three vehicles were totaled in the accident and were removed from the scene by A-1 Towing of Houston.

An accident happened in Dent County at 5:50 Tuesday evening in Dent County on Highway 32/72 about 11 miles east of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, 24-year old Shane Jercick of Salem was driving a 1994 International Flatbed when he lost control on the slick roadway, traveled across the roadway and struck a 2001 Jeep Wrangler driven by 39-year old Kevin Conway of Salem. Suffering minor injuries was 47-year old Rob Damouth who will seek his own treatment. Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seat restraints at the time of the accident. The 2001 Jeep Wrangler sustained moderate damages and was taken by Whitakers Towing of Salem. The 1994 International Flatbed sustained minor damages and was driven from the scene.

The Salem Tigers Boys and Girls Basketball games scheduled for Tuesday at West Plains were postponed. They will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will play in the 2008 US Bank Holiday Tournament in Rolla starting on Monday. The Tigers will face Festus in the first round starting at 4:00 that afternoon. If Salem wins, they play Tuesday at 7:00, and if they lose, they will play Tuesday at 4:00. You can hear the games on KSMO.

Demetri McCamey scored 18 of his 20 points in a strong first half, as Illinois topped 25th-ranked Missouri, 75-59, at the Scottrade Center. Leo Lyons had 22 points for the Tigers (9-2), whose seven-game win streak came to a crashing halt. Zaire Taylor was the only other player in double figures with 11 points for Missouri, which fell just one day after cracking the top 25 for the first time in almost five years. Missouri shot a season-worst 37.1 percent (23-of-62) from the field. They will be back in action Saturday at 3:00 against SIU-Edwardsville. You can hear that game on KSMO Radio.

Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings handled the St. Louis Blues, 4-1, at Joe Louis Arena. Patrik Berglund scored the only goal while Manny Legace gave up four goals on 41 shots for the Blues, who have lost seven of the last eight games. St. Louis next hosts San Jose on Saturday and Anaheim on Sunday afternoon. You can hear both games on KSMO Radio.

A memorial service for Paul Henry Harweger of Federal Way, Washington, age 40, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at Wilson Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the Harweger family.

Funeral services for LaDare Whitson of Rolla, age 69, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Ozark Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the Camp Creek Full Gospel Church or the American Lung Association.

Private interment for Daisy B. Johnson of Salem, age 76, will be held at a later date. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral Mass for Robert Adamick of Rolla, age 86 will be held Monday morning at 10:00 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. Visitation will be toninght from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Null & Son Funearl Home in Rolla. Interment will be in the Ozark Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Funeral services for Michael William Flint of Salem, age 20, are incomplete, but are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
