The Dent County Commissioners met for the regular meeting Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. Mr. Willis Stagner was in about the cemetery at the end of Lough Lane and that there were orange flags on the cemetery. He was wondering if they were from the county surveyor. The cemetery, which was deeded to the county in 1901,is to be resurveyed, but Mr. Stagner found out that those flags were not from Craig Ruble’s office. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that patch grading is going to be done on Dent County Roads 4160, 5410, 5420, 5440, 5450 and 6580. He said that workers would be installing salt spreader boxes on trucks in preparation for winter storms. Purcell said that he did attend the Meramec Regional Development Corporation meeting in St. James and they reviewed the audit from Kean and Company, CPA, from Rolla for the 2011-12 fiscal year, and it was clean. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that workers were checking roads for washouts and downed trees and were putting up signs. He said that in-service was being done on Dent County Truck #114. He also stated that a worker would be hauling brown rock from the creek and screening gravel. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that at the MRPC meeting last week, the Department of Economic Development indicated that the MRPC amend the bylaws to where only 60% of the directors can be elected officials. The MRPC then amended the bylaws to add nine additional commission members that would consist of one additional member from each county to represent for-profit businesses and one at-large member that would represent health. Skiles said that the presiding commissioners of each county would select the additional member to be added and he added Bryon Craig. He will serve until May of 2015 and terms after that will be for one-year. Skiles attended the South Central Missouri Community Action Agency meeting in Wynona Tuesday and said they reviewed the budget for the upcoming year and did evaluations on the Headstart program. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said that work is continuing on the 2013 budget; and that on January 10th, a listening post from Roy Blunt’s office will be held at the courthouse from 9:00 to 10:00 in the morning. The board accepted the high bid from Progressive Ozark Bank as the account for General Revenue earning interest of .60%. At the last meeting, Sherry Lea from the Salem TCRC came in and discussed the renewal of the Rural Addressing Contract for 2013. The commission agreed to renew the contract for $12,000 plus maintenance, the same as 2012. Then Lea, representing the Council for a Healthy Dent County, asked the county if they would donate 18 hours from their MRPC annual agreement to them for grant writing. The commissioners agreed to the request by a 3-0 vote. The courthouse will be closed Monday and Tuesday for Christmas Eve Christmas. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Thursday at 9:00 and that meeting is open to the public.
