The Salem Police Department has released their reports. On Saturday, December 3^rd at 12:40 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to an area on Fourth Street in reference to an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance. The investigation led to the arrest of a 44-year old male of Steelville for disorderly conduct. He was incarcerated on a 12-hour hold and will be issued a summons to appear in court upon release. On Monday, December 5^th at 1:05 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of South Warfel in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that a 39-year old Salem male had stolen a silver 2002 Dodge Neon from the residence. He was arrested after being located with the vehicle in Sullivan. He was transported to Dent County Jail and incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. Later that afternoon at 5:54, an officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of South Gertrude in reference to a disturbance. The investigation revealed that a 25-year old Salem female had assaulted a 24-year old male and a 34-year old male both of Salem. She was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct and was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. On Tuesday, December 6^th at 10:30 at night, an officer made contact with an 18-year old Salem female in the 1800 block of South Oak who had an active warrant from Dent County. She was taken into custody on the warrant and incarcerated. On Wednesday, December 7^th at 1:03 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 700 block of South Pershing in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown took a Troy Built riding mower valued at $900 from the yard of a residence. Anyone with any information regarding the theft report, which is still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

A Municipal Election will be held in the City of Salem on Tuesday, April 3^rd, 2012 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, an East Ward Alderman, and a West Ward Alderman. Those wishing to apply for the Mayoral position, which is a two-year term, must be at least 25-years of age, a citizen of the United States, a resident of the City at the time of and at least one year next proceeding his/her election, and may not be in arrears of any charges owed to the City of Salem. Anyone seeking to apply for either the East or West Aldermanic seat, which is a two-year term, must be 21-years of age, a citizen of the United States, an inhabitant and resident of the City for at least one year next before his/her election and be a resident of the ward from which he/she is elected and may not be in arrears of any charges owed to the City of Salem. Declaration of Candidacy may be filed with the City Clerk at 400 North Iron Street between now and Tuesday, January 17^th, 2012 during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and that is Monday through Friday. The filing fee for the positions is $25. Declaration of Candidacy received shall be placed on the ballot in the order they are received.

The Salem R-80 Board of Education will conduct their monthly meeting on Thursday, December 15^th at the boardroom beginning at 7:00 pm. After approval of the agenda, the consent agenda and communications, Superintendent Cindy Rumpf will update the Board on the candidate filings; there will be a policy update on GBH and the MSBA monthly report. In new business the Board will discuss Summer School for 2012, set a tentative Graduation date for 2012 and address resignations. The Board will then vote to go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing personnel. The regular monthly meeting of the Salem R-80 Board of Education is open to the public.

The Salem Tiger Boy’s basketball team couldn’t recover after trailing by 21 points after the 1^st quarter and lost to the Rolla Bulldogs Tuesday night, 63-43. Jacob Kettner led all scores with 15 points and Brady Floyd added 8 points for the Tigers, who fall to 1-4 on the year. Salem will be in Potosi Friday night.

Four Missouri Tiger football standouts were named first team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press. Senior tight end Michael Egnew and sophomore running back Henry Josey were recognized as first team offensive selections, while senior defensive tackle Dominique Hamilton and sophomore cornerback E.J. Gaines joined them as first team defensive selections.

Funeral services for Clyde E. Camden of Viburnum, age 92, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the Den County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Camden Cemetery in Boss.

Funeral services for Arthur C. Fackert, JR, of Montauk, age 72, will be held Thursday at 2:00 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Interment will be in the Boone Creek Cemetery.

Funeral service for Annette Michelle (Annie) Durham of Salem, age 32, will be Thursday at noon at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the New Harmony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Durham/Strotkamp children at Town & Country Bank.

Funeral services for Steven Wayne Strotkamp of Salem, age 39, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Thursday night from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery Memorials may be made to the Strotkamp daughters.
