The Dent County Commissioners regular meeting was held Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report, District One Commissioner Dennis Purcell reported that a tree was being cut off of Dent County Road 4220, that brush was being cut on Dent County Road 5600 and that workers were cleaning out a low water crossing on Dent County Road 5610. Purcell stated that a worker and a community service worker continue to work on the addition at the Road and Bridge Department building. He also said that the snow removal equipment would all be installed by today. District Two Commissioner Gary Larson said that one of the brush cutters had the starter go out and it is being repaired. If they can get it working, brush will be cut on Dent County Roads 2070, 2240, 2270 and 2300. He also said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2090, 4060, 4405 and 5323 if the ground thaws enough. Larson also said that he has a worker helping at the new addition. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that the sales tax revenue received in December was $14,621.60. For the year, he reported that the county ended up with $8,158.01 more sales tax revenue than in 2009. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that she and Treasurer Denita Williams balanced on all accounts for the month of November. She also asked the commission to review the tax abatements and add-ons. Skiles then presented a copy of the new lease from the Missouri Public Defender’s office in Rolla. The total cost per year to the county was to be about $4,459.00 with utilities that is virtually identical to what they paid last year. The lease was for seven years. The commissioners agreed to the lease and signed the signature page. The commission also set the price for the plat books once they are ready at $30 each. At the last meeting, the commission agreed to the bid from MFA Oil for the price of unleaded gas at $2.537 per gallon for 1,000 gallons; and their bid at $2.596 per gallon for 1,000 gallons of diesel. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
