The Salem Police Department released their reports involving assault, drugs and a fugitive. On November 29^th at 4:28 a.m. an officer was detailed to the Salem Memorial District Hospital in reference to an assault. The report revealed that a 49-year old Salem male had assaulted a 40-year old Salem female. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated and released. The report is under investigation. On December 1^st at 10:53 a.m. an officer was dispatched to the 800 block of North Main in reference to an assault. The report revealed that a 61-year old Salem male had assaulted a 66-year old Salem female. The report is under investigation. On December 2^nd at 1:00 a.m. officers of the Salem Police Department served a search warrant in the 1100 block of West Franklin. As a result of the search warrant a 31-year old Salem female was taken into custody for possessing synthetic narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child. The suspect was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. On December 2^nd at 5:34 p.m. an officer was sent to Wal-Mart in reference to a fugitive at that location. The report led to the arrest of a 22-year old female on a felony probation and parole warrant. The suspect was incarcerated pending extradition. The Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District recently honored Mayor Gary Brown of Salem, and the Round Pond Baptist Church for their recycling and solid waste management efforts. They were recognized during the Ozark Rivers annual meeting on December 2^nd at the Meramec Regional Planning Commission in St. James. Each year, the Ozark Rivers District recognizes companies and individuals that are helping the district meet its 40-percent reduction goal and to showcase them as models for others to follow. Mayor Brown has spent considerable time this past year trying to establish recycling opportunities for the city of Salem. He has done much of the legwork and organizing for drop-off days for recyclables. He held a special collection for electronics that coincided with the solid waste district’s collection so the materials could be combined.  He also secured a grant to purchase a trailer to expand and improve the city’s recycling program. Round Pond Baptist Church was honored for its volunteerism to help pick up trash and debris and dispose of it properly. The church has adopted nearly nine miles of state highways in Dent County and ensures they are litter-free. James Lewis accepted the award on behalf of the church. In addition to helping the church with its adopt-a-highway, Lewis also keeps his county road picked up and free of trash. Congratulations to Mayor Brown and the Round Pond Baptist Church for their recycling and solid waste management efforts.

Residents who live near the bridge over the Meramec River on Route M in Crawford County, as well as other interested parties, are encouraged to attend a Safe & Sound Community Briefing hosted by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The meeting will be held Tuesday, December 9^th from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Steelville Community Building. The bridge has been identified as one among 802 across the state with critical improvement needs. These 802 bridges will be repaired or replaced through the MoDOT Safe & Sound bridge improvement program within five years. The first 100 bridges, including the Route M structure, will be under construction by spring 2009.

An accident occurred at 12:55 early Sunday morning in Crawford County on Klein Road about six miles southwest of Steelville. According to the highway patrol report, a 2003 Ford F-350 driven by 25 year-old Drew Wishon of Steelville failed to negotiate a curve and began to slide. The Ford then slid off the road and overturned. Wishon suffered no injuries in the accident, but two 19 year-old occupants were hurt: Crystal Barrett of Steelville suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to St. Johns Hospital in St. Louis, and Wyatt Verble of Steelville suffered moderate injuries and was taken by the Steelville Ambulance to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. No one was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Ford F-350 was totaled in the accident and was removed from the scene by Miles Towing. Drew Wishon was cited for DWI.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers destroyed Career Construction Carter Saturday by the score of 88-30 at the Farmington Civic Center.

Zach Pitchford scored 22 points to lead Salem followed by Cody Wofford with 20, Phillip Moser netted 16, C. J. Smith with 12 and Grant Gordon scored 11. Salem is now 2-2 on the year and they will travel to Waynesville tomorrow night to face the Tigers starting with the JV at 6:00. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

DeMarre Carroll scored 19 points to lead the Missouri Tigers to a 93-66 victory over the California Golden Bears in a non- conference showdown at Mizzou Arena. Leo Lyons added 18 points and eight rebounds for Missouri (7-1), while Kim English and Marcus Denmon contributed 16 and 14 points, respectively. Missouri will be off a week until they face Murray State Saturday at 6:00.

Sam Bradford has Oklahoma headed to the national title game against Florida as he threw for 384 yards and two touchdowns as fourth-ranked Oklahoma blew past No. 19 Missouri, 62-21, in the Big 12 Championship game. Chase Daniel connected on 27-of-43 passes for 255 yards with three TDs, but was picked off twice for the Tigers, who lost to the Sooners for a seventh straight time

Brandon Crombeen scored the eventual game- winning goal as part of a three-goal second period for the St. Louis Blues, who held on to post a 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes at Scottrade Center. David Backes, Keith Tkachuk and Patrik Berglund each registered a goal and assist as the Blues rebounded Saturday after blowing a two-goal lead in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Calgary Flames. The Blues will face the Nashville Predators tonight at 7:30 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

Kurt Warner threw for 279 yards and a touchdown and the Arizona defense scored twice in the second half in a 34-10 decision over the lowly St. Louis Rams, as the Cardinals finally clinched the NFC West for their first postseason appearance since 1998. Steven Jackson carried the ball 19 times for 64 yards but fumbled twice for St. Louis (2-11), which has fallen in seven straight affairs. Marc Bulger completed 22-of-37 passes for 228 yards with a touchdown and a pick for the Rams.

Jay Cutler threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns, leading Denver to a comeback 24-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Tyler Thigpen threw for 187 yards and a touchdown on 17-of-32 passing for the Chiefs (2-11), who had beaten the Broncos earlier in the season. Dwayne Bowe caught seven passes for 96 yards, while Tony Gonzalez had 73 receiving yards and a touchdown in the loss. Larry Johnson was held to just 36 yards on 11 carries, as the Kansas City offense was held to 260 total yards.
