The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell reported that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 4220, 5630, 5680, and 6470. He went on to say that brush was being cut on Dent County Road 5650 and a driveway culvert was being installed on county road 5400. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson reported that grading was being done on Dent County Roads 5280, 3220, and 3240, brush is being cut on county road 2360 and materials were being hauled to Dent County Roads 5280 and 5320. Commissioner Larson went on to say that he had met with a MODOT Representative on a personal matter and the Representative had asked that he tell the Commissioners and Road Department employees that Dent County has some of the best county roads and best maintained equipment of the six counties they travel. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he has been reviewing the year to date budgets, which appear to be resulting in a positive end to the year. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that she and County Treasurer Denita Williams had balanced on all accounts for November. She went on to say that she had verified the Collectors and Assessors Reports and that they balanced on all personal and real estate abatements. Curley also said she paid bills and was working on the budget. Treasurer Williams brought in transfers for signatures and receipts for review. The Commissioners signed off on a budgeted transfer of $18,125 to the Senior Citizens Fund and a budgeted transfer of $9,750 from General Revenue to Assessment Operations. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be held Monday morning at 9:00 at the Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

The 2012 Christmas Parade of Lights titled, Toyland Christmas was held Saturday, December 1st. Although a bit windy, the weather was perfect for a parade and residents lined the streets from the corner of Franklin and Mac Arthur all the way to the Dent County Courthouse.  The Salem Chamber Board would like to thank the City of Salem, as well as area businesses, organizations and individuals who participated in the parade, which had a total of 52 entries. The Progressive Ozark Bank was the winner of the Commercial category while the Salem High & Junior High School FCCLA was the winner in the Non-Commercial category.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released their arrest reports for Dent County. On Friday, November 30th at 7:00 in the evening, 38-year old Shannon Williams was arrested on a St. James municipal warrant for failure to appear on charges of no proof of insurance, driving while revoked, failure to register a motor vehicle, and a Dent County misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on a charge of driving while revoked. She is being held in the Phelps County Jail on bond. On Saturday, December 1st at 1:28 in the afternoon, 41-year old Edgar Gray of Salem was arrested on a Dent County felony warrant for burglary in the second degree and 2 counts for felony stealing. He is being held in the Dent County Jail on bond. On Monday, December 3rd at 1:05 in the afternoon in Dent County, 30-year old Anthony Land of Salem was arrested on a Dent County felony warrant for burglary and stealing, a St. Francis County warrant for DWI, and a patrol charge for driving while revoked. Later that afternoon at 1:12, 33-year old Amy Shults was arrested and charged with felony possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance. She was held in the Dent County Jail on a 24-hour hold. At 5:40 that evening, 18-year old Tanner Devereaux of Salem was arrested on a Dent County felony warrant for manufacturing and possessing a controlled substance. He is being held in the Dent County Jail on bond.

The Salem Tiger Boys’ Basketball team will be in St. James tonight to face the Tigers. Salem is 1-2 on the year and JV will start things off at 6:00 with the varsity to follow. You can hear the varsity game on KSMO and ksmoradio.com.

The Salem Lady Tiger Basketball team will be facing Cabool tonight as part of the Cabool Tournament. The Lady Tigers are 1-1 on the season and tip-off is set for 7:00.

The 12th ranked Missouri Tiger basketball squad will host Tennessee State Saturday afternoon. Mizzou is 7-1 on the year and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio at 1:30.

The St. Louis Rams will in Buffalo to face the Bills while the Kansas City Chiefs will be in Cleveland to play the Browns. The Rams are 5-6-1 and the Chiefs are 2-10. Both games are set to start at noon on Sunday.

St. Louis Rams’ kicker Greg Zuerlein was named the NFC's special teams player of the week for Week 13. Zuerlein kicked a 53-yard field goal at the end of regulation and drilled a 54-yarder in overtime as the Rams stunned San Francisco.

The Kansas City Chiefs placed defensive lineman Allen Bailey on injured reserve Thursday. To fill the roster slot, the Chiefs signed linebacker Leon Williams. Williams had been released by the Chiefs but didn’t catch on with another club.

Funeral services for Vinita Jimmerson of Boss, age 82, will be held today at 11:00 at the Macedonia United Baptist Church in Boss. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Church. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Mell A. Scrivner of Rolla, age 87, will be held today at 1:00 at the Britton Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery with full military honors.

Funeral services for Paula Sue Ousley of Rolla, age 54, will be held today at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Roach Cemetery near Doolittle. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Graveside service for Edythe R. Chambers-Barbarick of Salem, age 92, will be held today at 1:00 at the Macedonia Cemetery in Rolla. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 until 12:45 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Memorials may be made to the Tri County Animal Shelter in St. James.

Funeral services for Cleatus Miner of Salem, age 82, will be held today at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time.

Funeral services for Steven Wyatt of Bunker, age 39, will be held Saturday at 1:00 at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Bunker. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service.

Memorial service for Earl Arthur Douglas of Deltona, Florida, formerly of Salem, age 95, will be held December 15th at the Salem Christian Church at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Green Forest Cemetery.
