The Salem Police Department released their reports from last week. According to their report, on November 25^th at around 4:15 in the evening in Salem in the 600 block of east Roosevelt, an unknown person or persons broke the back glass from a 2000 Chrysler causing property damage. Then on November 26^th around 3:36 in the afternoon, the Salem Police Department was dispatched to the 800 block of East Hawkins in reference of a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons had taken a refrigerator, stove and two wall heaters from the location. On November 28^th at around 10:00 in the morning, an officer was sent to the 200 block of South Washington in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown sometime between November 27^th at 11:00 at night and November 28th at 4:15 in the morning, had taken a Christmas tree and candy cane yard ornaments from the premises. The Salem Police Department released their report for the month of November. During the month, they wrote 10 traffic tickets, five warning tickets and they served 17 summons to appear in court. The Salem Police Department investigated 11 accidents, four assaults, two reports of a forgery, and one report of a missing/runaway juvenile. The Police Department also investigated 15 reports of stealing, five reports of property damage, two burglaries, a report of a disorderly conduct, one report of leaving the scene of an accident, one report of sexual abuse, two reports of lost or stolen license plates, and one report of arson. The Salem Police Department also conducted one death investigation. The police received 1,549 calls for service during the month, handled 125 walk-ins to the station, and redirected 75 calls to the animal control officer. They also spent seven hours in court testifying, four hours as court bailiff and spent 16 hours teaching D.A.R.E. The calls in November included 20 calls for escorts, nine intoxicated driver investigation calls, two calls for a suspicious person or vehicle, two calls for peace disturbances, five calls for vehicle lookouts, one call for a prowler, ten fire calls, 27 ambulance assist calls, six calls for alarms sounding, seven calls for fights in progress, eight domestic dispute calls, and four calls for an intoxicated pedestrians. The Salem Police Department drove a total of 8,968 miles during the month. The Salem Police Department arrested seven males and five females during the month of November.

An accident occurred Tuesday evening at 5:30 in Dent County on Highway 32 about one mile east of Boss. According to the highway patrol report, a 2000 Nissan Quest driven by 66-year-old Eleanor Moylan of Rolla, was driving westbound on Highway 32 when the Quest ran off the right side of the roadway. Moylan then overcorrected to the center of the lane where she overcorrected again causing the Quest to exit the right side of the roadway where the car stuck an embankment and overturned. Moylan suffered serious injuries and was flown by Air Evac to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. The Nissan Quest was totaled in the accident and was towed from the scene by Abney’s Towing.

On Saturday around 1:00 in the morning, Salem Police officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Carty in reference to a vehicle that had caught on fire. The investigation revealed that a 1990 Nissan pickup was consumed in flames while parked at a residence. The report is still under investigation in conjunction with the Missouri State Fire Marshall and the Dent County Fire Protection District.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Auxiliary Holiday Home Tour will be held this Sunday, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The homes of Ken Fiebelman, Randall and Sandra Greenwood, Jerry and Artie Shafer, Gene and Ann Tebeau, Craig and Lisa Jordison, Mike and Lindsey Pike and the Trees and Trains display at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center will all be on the tour. The cost is $6 and directions to each location are on the back of the ticket. Tickets are available at the local banks, the Salem Memorial District Hospital and the Edward Jones Office at 911 South Pershing. Tickets are also available from auxiliary members and they can be purchased at the door of any of the homes on the tour. Refreshments will be available at the ONCRC for those on the tour. The 2008 Christmas Parade of Lights entitled, “Home For the Holidays”, will be held on Saturday, December 6^th beginning at 5:30 pm. The parade will follow the usual parade route from the old fairgrounds heading north on McArthur, then traveling down Fourth Street to the Dent County Courthouse. Immediately following the parade, there will be a lighting ceremony on the square to officially light the Dent County Courthouse for the 2008 Christmas season. There will also be caroling on the courthouse square by the R-80 Upper Elementary Honors Choir directed by Julie Cartwright. There will be a first and second place parade winner for the commercial and non-commercial categories. First place winners will receive $100 and second place winners will receive $50.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers face Oakville tonight in the second round of the Farmington Tournament. Salem enters the game with a 1-1 record. The game will NOT be heard on KSMO.

Niklas Backstrom turned aside all 22 shots he faced as the Minnesota Wild blanked the St. Louis Blues, 4-0, at the Xcel Energy Center. Chris Mason stopped 34-of-37 shots for the Blues, who have lost three of four. The Blues will host Calgary Friday night at 7:00.

The Missouri Football Tigers face Oklahoma Saturday night at 7:00 in the Big 12 Championship game. You can hear it on KSMO.
