From now until December 31st, seniors can sign up for prescription drug plans under Medicare Part D. Also, those who are unhappy with their existing coverage can now switch plans. Why? Because their're currently in an "open-enrollment" period. During this period, America's seniors can either enroll for the first time, or pick a new plan that better meets their needs. Seniors should jump at this opportunity to sign up or switch. With hundreds of private plans competing to provide the best deals, Medicare Part D has more options and better coverage than ever before. Many of these new plans have lower co-pays, and will cover the dreaded "donut hole," meaning less out-of-pocket costs for seniors. New cutting-edge medicines -- some of which were approved by the FDA as recently as October -- are also now covered. So even seniors who are pleased with their existing drug coverage should examine their new options. Qualified seniors should not delay. This open-enrollment period happens only once per year, from November 15th through December 31st. For more information, visit www.Medicare.gov.
