The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a stolen vehicle, assault, a stolen 4-wheeler, a well check and a disturbance. On November 14^th, 2008 between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. a 1998 Pontiac was stolen from the 200 block of South Carty. The vehicle was recovered at 1:30 p.m. parked on a lot in the area of Truman and Oak Streets in Salem. On November 14^th 12:50 p.m. officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to an assault. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 41-year old Salem woman for assault and property damage. Also arrested were a 22-year old and 27-year old Salem women for assault. The three were issued a summons to appear in court on the charge and were released. On November 16^th at 2:00 p.m. an officer was detailed to the 800 block of East Ellis in reference to a stolen four-wheeler. The investigation of the report revealed that unknown persons took a 2007 TAO model 342 four-wheeler from a residence without permission. On November 16^th at 7:41 p.m. an officer was sent the 300 block of North Walker in reference to check on the well-being of an individual. The police found a white male unresponsive and contacted the coroner. Dent County Deputy Coroner Gina White pronounced 40-year-old William Gary Wilburn dead at 7:48. The death is not suspicious but is under investigation pending the result of the autopsy toxicology reports. On November 16^th at 8:29 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the area of the 100 block of North Henderson in reference to a disturbance. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 21-year old Salem man who was incarcerated pending the issuance of warrants on burglary and domestic assault. Senator Frank Barnitz announced that District Legislative Assistant Wilma Rowden of Vienna would continue her listening posts in November at locations throughout the 16^th Senate District. Rowden will be at the Phelps County Courthouse in Rolla on Thursday, November 20^th from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a run-away juvenile, a fight and thefts. On November 9^th at 10:14 p.m. an officer was contacted the station in reference to a 15 year-old female juvenile that ran away. The juvenile was located at Casey’s General Store on Macarthur and the report will be forwarded to the juvenile officer. On November 10^th at 6:33 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the Auto Zone parking lot in reference a fight in progress. The investigation of the report revealed a 19 year-old Eminence male had assaulted a 47 year-old Eminence male. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect who was issued a summons to appear in court for assault. On November 11^th at 9:40 a.m. an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that an unknown person took a cell phone valued $325.00 from a table. On November 11^th at 6:09 p.m. an officer was detailed to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 28 year-old Salem female for stealing merchandise valued $111.72 and the possession of synthetic narcotics. The suspect was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. At  9:24 p.m. that same evening, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to damage to private property. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown damaged a silver and blue 1987 Chevrolet Camaro parked in the 800 block of East Jack. The value of the damage is approximately $1800.00.  On November 13^th at 6:55 a.m. an officer was sent to the Cedar Grove Cemetery reference property damage. The investigation of the report revealed that unknown persons turned over 49 headstones causing $2480.00 in damages. And also on November 13^th at 12:34 p.m. an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 29 year-old Salem female for stealing merchandise valued $26.93. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and released. The 2008 Fall Athletic Banquet to recognize all varsity and junior varsity football, volleyball, softball, and cross-country participants, and the cheerleaders, as well as all their parents, will be held on Thursday, November 20^th at the Salem High School Cafeteria beginning at 6:30 pm.

Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has been named the American League's Most Valuable Player, as voted on by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Pedroia, last year's AL Rookie of the Year, garnered 317 points to outdistance Minnesota's Justin Morneau by 60 points. Pedroia placed first on 16 of the 28 ballots cast by two writers from each AL city, second on six others, third on four, and fifth on another.

The St. Louis Blues claimed forward B.J. Crombeen on waivers from the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. The Denver, Colorado native was Dallas' second-round pick (54th overall) in the 2003 draft and has played in 23 games, all with Dallas, in the NHL and has one goal and six assists with 65 penalty minutes.
