The City of Salem Board of Alderman received and accepted an invitation from sawmill owners for an open discussion on their concerns involving the possibility of a biomass plant being located in Salem. A meeting will be held tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers beginning at 7:00 pm. The meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving damage to a vehicle, a domestic dispute, and theft. On Thursday, November 11th at 6:50 in the morning, an officer was detailed to the 1000 block of West Coffman in reference to damage to a vehicle. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown damaged the ignition on a 1997 Ford Contour that was parked at a residence. The value of the damage is approximately $100. At 12:15 that same afternoon, an officer was dispatched to the 600 block of North Washington in reference to a domestic dispute. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 25 year-old Salem male for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Then at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to a theft from the Bonebrake Center. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a 100 pounds propane tank valued $235. Anyone with any information regarding the damage to a vehicle or theft reports, which are still under investigation, are asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The Salem R-80 Board of Education will conduct their monthly meeting tonight at the district administrative offices boardroom beginning at 6:00 pm. After BOE yearbook group picture and approval of the agenda and communications, Superintendent Cindy Rumpf will update the Board on the parent/teacher conferences and the professional development day. In new business, there will be an MSBA/MASA annual conference report, the setting of Board election filing dates, selection of the MSBA Belcher Scholarship recipient and the Board will approve budget revisions. The Board will then approve the auditor’s report and the MSIP advanced questionnaire. The Board will then adjourn and go into Closed Session for the purpose of discussing personnel and discipline. The regular monthly meeting of the Salem R-80 Board of Education is open to the public.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their regular monthly meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda, the minutes from the previous meeting held October 21^st, Administrator Dennis Pryor will update the Board on the summary of operations and statistics report of October, the Auxiliary report, the hospital activity calendar and legislative issues. Director of Nursing Carol Lacy will then update the Board on the nursing services and ancillary service reports, followed by the Chief of Staff report. In old business, there will be a strategic planning update, an update on the hospital lagoon, the hospital foundation committee and an annul bylaw review. In new business the Board will address hospital purchases and address the election filings that begin December 14^th and run through January 18^th, 2011. The Board may then vote to go into Closed Session. The regular monthly meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The Salem High School Fall Sports Banquet will be held tonight starting at 6:00 at the High School Cafeteria. Athletes to be honored tonight will include those participating football, softball and volleyball as well as cheerleaders.

Dan Cleary scored two goals, including the go-ahead tally that incited a third-period explosion, as the Detroit Red Wings beat the St. Louis Blues, 7-3, at Joe Louis Arena. Andy McDonald posted a goal and two assists for the Blues, who have dropped five in a row on the heels of a seven-game winning streak. Jaroslav Halak was beaten seven times on 31 shots. The Blues will play the Ottawa Senators Friday night.

Long known as the greatest Cardinal of them all, Stan Musial will be receiving an even higher honor: he's going to be recognized as one of the greatest Americans of them all. Musial, who turns 90 next week, will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama. It is the country's highest civilian honor. The Medal of Freedom is given for "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States or to world peace or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors." In a 22-season Major League career, Musial established himself as one of the greatest hitters of all time. He batted .331 lifetime with a .417 on-base percentage and a .559 slugging percentage. Musial hit 475 home runs, amassed 3,630 hits, 1,951 RBIs and scored 1,949 runs, and was a three-time National League Most Valuable Player. He did all of this despite missing the 1945 season to serve in the Navy in World War II.

The Missouri Tiger basketball team will open up their season tonight, as they will play Western Illinois. The pre-game show kicks things off at 6:30 on KSMO.

The Kansas City Chiefs have placed linebacker Mark Simoneau on injured reserve and signed linebacker Charlie Anderson.
