An accident happened Sunday morning at 5:45 in Phelps County on Phelps County Road 8010 that took the life of a woman from Rolla. According to the highway patrol report, a 2004 Chevy Impala driven northbound by 35-year old Jennifer Ousley of Rolla, drove off the right side of the roadway, skidded and then ran off the left side of the roadway where the Impala struck several trees. Ousley was pronounced dead at the scene by a Phelps County Deputy at 7:37 in the morning. The body was taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by the Phelps County Ambulance. The Chevy Impala was totaled at the scene and removed by C&C Towing of Rolla. Ousley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

An accident happened at 12:20 early Sunday morning about eight miles north of Cuba on Highway 19 that took the life of a man from Linn. According to the highway patrol report, a 1998 Ford F-150 driven northbound by 51-year old Kenneth Clark of Linn. The accident happened when Clark lost control of the Ford F-150 on an ice covered bridge and the pickup overturned. Clark was partially ejected from the pickup. He was transported to the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan by the North Crawford County ambulance. Clark was pronounced dead at 3:58 in the morning Sunday at the Mercy Hospital in Creve Couer. Clark was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The pickup was totaled and was removed from the scene by Miles and Sons towing.

An accident happened in Phelps County Sunday afternoon at 2:24 on Phelps County Road 1000 just about five miles east of St. James. According to the highway patrol report, a 2002 Ford Windstar driven eastbound by 55-year old Ronald Taber of St. James, lost control on an ice covered roadway, went off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch before coming to a stop. Taber suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by the St. James Ambulance. Taber was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Ford Windstar had moderate damages and was removed from the scene by Spurgeon’s Towing.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a mental commitment order, theft, traffic violation and theft of fuel. On Thursday, November 6th at 7:30 am, an officer transported a 43-year old male of St. Louis, to the Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, in lieu of a mental commitment order. At 11:51 that same morning, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 300 block of North Russell in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed a person or persons unknown took items valued at $405.00 and damaged a window valued at $35.00. That afternoon at 3:54, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. That investigation led to the arrest of a 19-year old Salem female for stealing $100.00 cash. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. That night at 7:54 pm, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.  The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 33-year old Salem male on an active arrest warrant from Dent County. He was incarcerated pending a court appearance. On Friday, November 7th at 5:22 in the morning, an officer responded to the Casey's General Store located on Highway 32 East in reference to a theft of fuel. That investigation revealed the driver of a maroon Mitsubishi pumped $19.81 in fuel and left without paying. Later that day at 2:00 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 500 block of East Ninth in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed someone unknown took items valued $200.00 from the yard of a residence. Anyone with any information regarding the theft or theft of fuel reports is asked to call the Salem Police Department at 729-4242. 

Roadwork continues is the KSMO listening area. In Dent County, roadway resurfacing continues on Highway 19 between Highway 32 and Route KK in Shannon County. The contractor will install the new shoulders on Highway 19 south this week. This work will take place from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday. One lane is open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. Roadway resurfacing is under way on Route B between Highway 19 and Highway 72. One lane is open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. These projects are to be completed this month. Roadside maintenance will take place on Highway 68 between Route FF and Route F today through Friday, November 21st. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. In Phelps County, Roadside maintenance will take place on Highway 68 between Highway 8 and the Dent County Line today through Wednesday, November 26th. Brian Elliott made 24 saves and four St. Louis Blues scored in a 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals on Saturday. The goals by Jori Lehtera, Jaden Schwartz, Patrik Berglund and David Backes helped the Blues to their third straight win and a 10-1-0 record in their last 11 games. The Blues will be in Boston on Tuesday.

Russell Hansbrough rushed for a career-high 199 yards and two touchdowns, as the Missouri Tigers used a third-quarter surge to take down the Texas A&M Aggies, 34-27. Hansbrough did his damage on 20 carries for Missouri (8-2, 5-1 SEC), which continues to control its own destiny in the SEC Eastern Division. Maty Mauk completed 23-of-40 passes for 252 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Shaun Hill returned as the starter and helped lead the St. Louis Rams to a win over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Hill passed for 220 yards and a touchdown and Greg Zuerlein kicked a career-high five field goals in Sunday's 22-7 victory. The defense had a hand in the upset as they intercepted Peyton Manning twice and sacked him twice as the Rams move to 4-6.

Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis combined for three rushing touchdowns and the Kansas City defense made some key stops down the stretch in a 24-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Charles carried the ball 20 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns for the Chiefs (7-3). Davis' 4-yard TD run with 13:41 to play gave Kansas City the lead. Alex Smith completed 11-of-16 passes for 108 yards for the Chiefs.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers rebounded from a poor performance on Friday against UMKC in a 69-61 loss to beat Valparaiso Sunday by the score of 56-41. Missouri is now 1-1 on the year.

Funeral services for Patricia Sue Baird of Viburnum, age 57, will be held today at 4:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until service time. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Serenity Hospice.

Funeral services for Ronnie Martin of Cherryville, age 57, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 today. Interment will be in the Martin-Trask Cemetery in Cherryville.

Funeral services for Jennifer Ousley of Rolla, age 35, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Vida. Memorials may be made to the Ousley Girls Education Fund.
