The Salem Police Department released their reports involving thefts and an exparte violation. On Monday, November 9th at 10:09 AM, an officer was detailed to BP Convenience Store in reference to a leave without pay. The report revealed the driver of a white Chevrolet dually pick-up truck pumped $30.00 in fuel and left without paying for it. At 7:05 that evening, an officer was dispatched to B&B Barbecue on Fourth Street in reference to a theft.  The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took $300.00 out of the cash register. On Tuesday, November 10th at 7:43 in the morning, an officer was sent to the 300 block of West Franklin in reference to a theft. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a step hitch and hitch pin valued $54.75 from a blue 2007 GMC Sierra that was parked in the driveway of a residence. On Wednesday, November 11th at 1:35 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a Westinghouse washing machine valued $250.00 from the porch of a residence in the 200 block of West Rolla. At 1:58 that afternoon, an officer was detailed to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. The report led to the arrest of a 29-year old Salem female for stealing $52.71 in merchandise. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. At 3:00 that same afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to fraudulent use of a credit card. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown used a debit card of another at Wal-Mart for a total of $650.00. At 5:48 that evening, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a violation of an ex-parte’ order. The report led to the arrest of a 43-year old Salem male for the violation of ex-parte’. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Thursday, November 12th at 2:10 PM, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a forgery. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown forged a check that was stolen from a residence in Dent County for the amount of $100.00 at Phil-Mart. Anyone with any information regarding the thefts is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The City of Salem Board of Alderman will conduct their regular meeting tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers beginning at 7:00 p.m. During the hearing of persons, Buddy and Betty McKinney wish to discuss a problem they are having with their water bill. The board will then review bids requested on 14 bulletproof vests. Alderman Jim McDaniels, Jim Jackson, Kenneth Nash, and Brad Nash will discuss miscellaneous items involving the City of Salem. McDaniels would also like to discuss the cat problem and get an update on storm water problems. Mayor Gary Brown will address various issues involving the City of Salem including the step pay for the Electric Superintendent. After the bills are approved, the board may then vote to go into closed session. The regular meeting of the City of Salem Board of Alderman is open to the public.  

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is stepping up its efforts to sell its excess property. The Realty to Roads Blitz will be held this week across Missouri. The campaign is a targeted effort by MoDOT to sell 23 of its highly marketable properties. The South Central District will be offering a 4.85-acre parcel in Dent County during the Blitz. The property is located on Route 72, approximately 5 miles northwest of the Route 72 and Route 32 junction in Salem, Missouri. The land is on the northeastern side of Route 72, approximately 600 feet east of the intersection of Route 72 and County Road 3180 and will sell by sealed bid tomorrow. The Realty to Roads Blitz is an effort to draw attention to the property MoDOT has available for sale and to use the funds generated for additional road and bridge projects. MoDOT acquires land to build, improve, and maintain the highway system.  As the transportation system evolves, some land is no longer needed. The Dent County Health Center has received a large shipment of H1N1 vaccine and can now offer it to the public. Both the H1N1 shot and the H1N1 FluMist are available at clinics to be held today and Thursday, November 19th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Pregnant women MUST have a doctor’s order to receive the vaccine. For more information call the Dent County Health Center at 729-3106. The vaccine will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Blaine Gabbert threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns, as the Missouri Tigers upended the Kansas State Wildcats, 38-12, in Big 12 play at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Gabbert hit on 20-of-27 pass attempts for the Tigers (6-4, 2-4 Big 12), who are now eligible for their school-record fifth straight bowl game. Danario Alexander had another big time game for Missouri, as he pulled in 10 balls for 200 yards and three touchdowns.

Evgeni Nabokov was solid with 38 saves and Jed Ortmeyer netted the game-winner close to halfway through the second period, as San Jose defeated St. Louis, 3-1, at Scottrade Center. Jay McClement had the lone goal for St. Louis, which has lost seven of eight. Chris Mason was tested with 16 shots and allowed two by him.

Laurence Bowers and Marcus Denmon each scored 13 points and the Mizzou defense forced 30 turnovers in an 83-60 victory over Northwest Missouri State Friday evening in the final exhibition game at Mizzou Arena. Missouri returns to action on Tuesday in the regular-season opener against Tennessee-Martin.

University of Missouri sophomore placekicker Grant Ressel (Jackson, Mo.) has been named a semifinalist for the 2009 Lou Groza Award, which goes to the nation's top placekicker. Ressel was named as one of 20 semifinalists up for the award.

Drew Brees threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, and the New Orleans Saints remained perfect by holding off the feisty St. Louis Rams with a 28-23 win at the Edward Jones Dome. Steven Jackson ran for 131 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries for the Rams (1-8). Jackson also caught nine passes for 45 yards in defeat. Marc Bulger threw for 298 yards with two touchdowns and one interception on 26-of-40 passing, while rookie Brandon Gibson had 93 receiving yards on seven receptions. Donnie Avery had two touchdown catches in defeat.

Ryan Succop made three field goals, and Jamaal Charles rushed for 103 yards and a score on 18 carries, as the Kansas City Chiefs hung on for a 16-10 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 10 action. Matt Cassel completed 19-of-34 passes for 216 yards and an interception for the Chiefs (2-7), who had lost two in a row after capturing their first win of the season on October 18 against the Redskins. Dwayne Bowe caught six passes for 91 yards for the victors.
