The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their report involving a burglary. On November 13^th at 12:39, the department received a report of a burglary, which was reported to have occurred between October 31^st and November 9th at a residence located off of Dent County Road 216. Reported taken were a Phoenix Arms 22-calibor semi-automatic handgun, a Bryco Arms 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a Marlin 22-calibor rifle. Anyone with any information regarding this incident, which is still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Department by calling 729-3241.

An accident happened at 3:26 Monday afternoon in Salem on South Pershing at Highway 32. According to the Salem Police report, a silver 1981 Buick Regal Custom driven by 20-year old Marcus Kitson of Salem was turning onto South Pershing from highway 32 and lost control sliding off the roadway to the right making contact with a city utility pole. Kitson suffered a minor injury and sought his own treatment. The Buick sustained moderate damage and there was no apparent damage to the city utility pole.

The Salem R-80 Board of Education will conduct their regular meeting Thursday night at 6:00 in the district administrative offices boardroom. After the approval of the minutes from the October meeting and consent agenda, Superintendent Steve Bryant will discuss the Parent-Teacher conferences and Professional Development Day. New business will include several program evaluations, along with curriculum, instruction and assessment (CIA) Measurable Learner Objectives (MLO) and Overview. Also in new business the Board will consider a revision of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP), appoint a Salem R-80 School Foundation Chairperson, set Board election filing dates and the selection of MSBA Belcher Scholarship Recipient. The Board will then adjourn and go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing personnel and discipline. The regular meeting of the Salem R-80 Board of Education tomorrow night is open to the public.

The Dent County Soil and Water Conservation District wants to remind everyone that cost share monies are now available. If you are interested in doing a spring seeding and your land shows erosion, you could possibly qualify for cost share assistance. There is also money available for fence that would exclude livestock from timber and waterways. If you are interested in installing a grazing system with several fields and a watering system in the near future, you need to contact the office to get signed up for assistance.  Current soil test and grazing school attendance is a requirement before installing a grazing system. The Salem Fall Sports Athletic Banquet will be held tonight at 6:30 at the high school cafeteria. The sports to be saluted will be football, volleyball, cross-country and softball and the cheerleaders will also be honored.

David Perron scored a pair of goals to highlight a four-goal second-period explosion for the St. Louis Blues, who sent the Detroit Red Wings to their second straight loss, 4-3, at the Scottrade Center. Keith Tkachuk and Jamal Mayers also notched goals, Steve Wagner had a pair of assists and Manny Legace saved 27 shots as St. Louis recovered from a two-goal deficit en route to ending a three-game skid. St. Louis scored four goals in a period for the second time this season; they previously had tallied four in the third period of an October 6 win at Los Angeles. St. Louis is 8-0-0 when scoring three goals or more this season.

In a second round matchup of the CBE Classic, the Missouri Tigers beat up the Fordham Rams at Mizzou Arena 79-55 thanks to a solid 16-point, eight rebound performance from DeMarre Carroll. Carroll hit 8-of-13 from the field in a convincing Tigers' (2-0) victory. Stefhon Hannah shot just 5-of-14 for the ball game, but managed to produce 12 points and six assists for the undefeated Tigers. J. T. Tiller had a great night off the bench by sinking 13 points in just 16 minutes of action. In jumping out to a comfortable 53-23 halftime lead, the Tigers' defense held to Rams to just 25 percent shooting in the first half. With the 30-point cushion, Missouri cruised to a win despite hitting just 11 second-half field goals. The Tigers increased their non-conference home winning streak to 20 straight games with the victory. With the win the Tigers will now head to the Semifinal round of the CBE Classic which will be held in Kansas City.

Kansas City running back Larry Johnson will not play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Chiefs president/general manager Carl Peterson announced that the swelling continues to subside in Johnson's injured right foot, but he will not be able to play when the Colts host the Chiefs. Peterson said Johnson, who was on the sidelines without crutches for Sunday's 27-11 home loss to Denver, has been getting rehab treatments twice a day. Peterson said Johnson's condition will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, and that the running back will see a foot specialist next Monday.
