This Monday night at approximately 7:56, a person called the Dent County Sheriff's Office and reported that a person’s vehicle had been side swiped by another vehicle in the Sale Barn parking lot. The car owner stated that she had seen a red S-10 Chevy Pick-up truck parked next to her vehicle when she went inside the sale barn. The subject’s vehicle scraped the entire front bumper of her vehicle, leaving red paint on the front bumper of her vehicle. If anyone has any information that would assist identifying the suspect vehicle, please contact the Dent County Sheriff's Office at 729-3241.

An accident occurred at 5:50 Tuesday evening in Dent County about twelve miles east of Salem on Highway 72. According to the highway patrol report, 48-year old Curtis Conway of Salem was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler north when it struck a deer, ran off the right side of the roadway, and overturned. Conway suffered moderate injuries and was flown by Air Evac to Mercy in Creve Coeur. He was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Jeep was totaled and removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem.

The Salem Police Department released their report for the month of October. During the month, they wrote nine equipment repair orders, 29 summons to appear in court, 42 warning tickets, and 52 traffic tickets. The Salem Police Department investigated 18 accidents, three assaults, five burglaries, one report of cruelty to animals, three reports of disorderly conduct, one report of domestic assault, and three reports of domestic violence. There was one report of driving while intoxicated, one report of driving while revoked, one report of endangering the welfare of a child, one report of felonious restraint, one report of forgery, one report of indecent exposure, one report of leaving the scene of an accident and one report of a minor in possession of intoxicants. The department also investigated one report of a missing and/or runaway juvenile, one report of a peace disturbance, five reports of property damage, one report of resisting and/or interfering with an arrest, 16 reports of stealing, one report of trespassing, one report of a violation of an exparte and/or full order of protection and three 96-hour commitments.  They also investigated one report for distributing/manufacturing/ producing/possession of a controlled substance, two reports of possession of marijuana and one report of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Salem Police Department conducted one death investigation, received 1,774 calls for service during the month, handled 112 walk-ins to the station, and redirected 55 calls to the animal control officer. They spent 13 hours in court testifying, four hours as court bailiff and spent 18 hours teaching D.A.R.E. The calls in October included 23 calls for escorts, one call for an intoxicated driver, four calls for a prowler, five calls for a suspicious person and/or vehicle, three intoxicated pedestrian calls, five calls for domestic disputes, and two calls for a wrecker. There were 15 911 calls, six calls for a peace disturbance, three calls for alarms sounding, two calls for fights in progress, 10 ambulance assist calls, and one call for property damage.  The Salem Police Department drove a total of 8,807 miles and arrested 23 males and 10 females during the month of October.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored 56 seconds into overtime to lift the Phoenix Coyotes over the St. Louis Blues, 3-2, on Tuesday. Maxim Lapierre and Roman Polak scored for the Blues, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Jaroslav Halak made 16 saves. St. Louis was trying for its best start in franchise history on Tuesday. The Blues came into the game with an 11-2-2 record through 15 games, matching the best start by the franchise over that span first set in 1993-94 and done again in 1997-98.The Blues will host the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.

The St. Louis Blues and defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo agreed to a one-year contract on Tuesday. The deal is pending the results of a physical and comes on the heels of Monday's announcement that blueliner Jordan Leopold will undergo surgery to repair ligament damage in his right hand. Leopold is expected to be sidelined a minimum of eight weeks. Colaiacovo, 30, played parts of four seasons with the Blues from 2008-09 to 2011-12. The 2001 first-round pick has registered 30 goals and 110 assists in 376 career games.

Jordan Clarkson notched a career-high 31 points as the Missouri Tigers cruised past the Southern Illinois Salukis, 72-59, at Mizzou Arena. Clarkson shot 12-for-18 from the field and posted five assists in the Tigers' (2-0) winning effort. Jabari Brown and Earnest Ross added 17 and 11 points, respectively. The Tigers shot just 63 percent from the foul line, but they were still able to outscore SIU from the charity stripe, 17-3. Missouri will play Hawaii on Saturday at 7:00.

All 13 major league baseball players who received qualifying offers from their teams have declined them at Monday's deadline. The list includes St. Louis Cardinals slugger Carlos Beltran and Kansas City Royals hurler Ervin Santana. By submitting a qualifying offer, that player's team will receive a compensatory pick between the first and second rounds of June's First-Year Player Draft if he signs elsewhere.

Though hopeful they would retain their full coaching staff for next season, the Cardinals have ended up with at least one vacancy to fill. The Rangers announced Tuesday that they have hired Bengie Molina to serve as first-base coach/catching coordinator. Molina was the Cardinals' assistant hitting coach in 2013, his first season as a Major League coach.

Funeral services for Charles F. Tankersley of Rolla, age 69, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be tonight from 5:00 until 7:00. Interment will be in the Rhea Cemetery in Rolla. Memorials may be made to the Cave State Cruisers.

Funeral services for William E. Pitts of St. James, age 69, will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be Thursday night from 4:00 to 6:00. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Vichy Fire Department.

Funeral services for Herbert Lawrence Gilliam of Steelville, age 83, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be tonight from 4:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Czar Cemetery in Viburnum.

Funeral services for Charles Kartchner of Rolla, age 76, will be held Friday at 2:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be Thursday night from 5:00 until 7:00. Interment will be at a later date.
