The Salem Police Department released their reports for the first few days of November. On Thursday, November 1st at 1:30 in the afternoon, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation that led to the arrest of a 34-year old Salem male for possession of a controlled substance, manufacture of a controlled substance, and on two active felony warrants. He was incarcerated pending the application for warrants and extradition. That evening at 6:47, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation that led to the arrest of a 29-year old Steelville male for possession of marijuana. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Saturday, November 3rd at 1:18 in the early morning, an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of East Truman in reference to a peace disturbance. The investigation led to the arrest of an intoxicated 29-year old Salem male, who was acting violent towards a resident. He was issued a summons to appear in court and incarcerated on a 12-hour hold. Later that evening at 5:06, an officer was dispatched to Casey’s General Store on Highway 19 in reference to a theft of fuel. That investigation revealed that a male driving a gold Ford Taurus pulled in, pumped $41.12 in fuel, and left the lot without paying. Then at 5:21 that evening, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that a 14-year old Salem male juvenile had taken a Game Cube and Wii game console valued at $360 from a residence in the 900 block of South Hickory. The juvenile was released to his parent and the report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office. Later that evening at 6:47, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation that led to the arrest of a 23-year old male of Mt. Home, Arkansas on an active warrant from Butler County. He was released with a court date after posting bond. On Monday, November 5th at 1:15 in the afternoon, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation that led to the arrest of a 52-year old Salem male on a warrant from Morgan County. He was incarcerated pending extradition. Later that afternoon at 3:51, an officer observed a 19-year old Salem male, who had an active warrant from Phelps County. He was taken into custody in the 1200 block of South Macarthur and was later released with a court date after posting bond. That night at 8:49, an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of East First in reference to damage to a window. That investigation of the report revealed that someone threw a rock through a window of a residence causing $200 in damages. Anyone with any information regarding the thefts or damage to the window, which are still under investigation, is asked to call the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.
Kent Nichols along with Jay Anderson will be the guest speakers at the November 2012 Dent County Historical Society Dinner Speaker Series at the Bank of Salem Meeting Room in Downtown Salem at 6:00 tonight. Nichols and Anderson are planning murals for Downtown Salem and they plan to share their ideas on the how’s and why’s of their project. Anderson is the mastermind of the Salem Historic Downtown Walking Trail project that can be viewed in front of the place where the historic building stood as you walk along the sidewalks and/or drive along certain streets. He has a book of the photograph of each of these buildings that is available for purchase. Nichols produced the movie “Civil War in the Ozarks: Battle for Dent County.” After the meeting at 7 p.m., Nichols will again show the Civil War movie. The meeting at the Bank of Salem is free and open to the public. There is a cost for dinner at the Pizza Inn at 5 p.m., prior to the program. Shaun Suisham buried a 23-yard field goal less than a minute into overtime, as the Pittsburgh Steelers survived a scare from the Kansas City Chiefs with a 16-13 victory on Monday night at Heinz Field. Jamaal Charles carried the load with 100 yards and a score on 23 carries for the Chiefs (1-8), who have lost six straight. The Chiefs will play the Bengals on Sunday.
The Missouri Tiger basketball team will host Alcorn State tonight. Missouri is 1-0 on the year and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio, starting with the pre-game show at 6:30.
St. Louis Cardinal catcher Yadier Molina received arguably the most prestigious defensive award of the year, receving the National League's Platinum Glove Award at Rawlings' Gold Glove Award ceremony. This marked the second year that Rawlings has handed out a Platinum Glove and Molina has taken home both NL honors.
Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress is the first incoming part of the Zack Greinke trade to leave the Royals. Jeffress was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash. Jeffress, only 25, will be going into his seventh pro season. The Royals also re-signed catcher Manny Pina and signed 1B Ian Gac and outfielder Luis Durango to Minor League contracts over the weekend.

Funeral services for Cathy Leimkuehler (Coleman) of Leslie and formerly of Davisville, age 63, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be on tonight from 4:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Cherryville Baptist Cemetery.
A Rosary service for Trudy Hammack of Rolla, age 92, will be held Wednesday at 5:30 at the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla, followed by visitation until 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Otterville Mo. At 3:00 pm. Memorial are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
