The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a disturbance, a warrant for arrest, vehicle stops, a prowler and a shoplifter. On Thursday, November 4th at 6:30 p.m. an officer was detailed to the 200 block of South Henderson in reference to a disturbance. Investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 33 year-old Salem man for domestic assault. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Saturday, November 6th at 12:00 p.m. an officer contacted a 19 year-old Salem man in the 1800 block of South Oak in reference to a warrant for his arrest from the City of Salem. He paid the fine and cost on the warrant and was released. At 8:30 p.m. that evening, a vehicle was stopped for a follow up on an investigation. Results of the stop led to the arrest of a 20 year-old Salem man for driving while license suspended. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, November 7th at 12:15 a.m. a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. Investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 21 year-old Salem man for driving while drugged, possession of marijuana, possession of barbiturates, possession of narcotics and traffic charges. He was incarcerated on the charges pending the issuance of a warrant. At 1:15 a.m. that same morning, an officer was detailed to the 600 block of West Gibbs in reference to a prowler. Investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 27 year-old Salem man for damage to private property. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Later that same day at 4:00 p.m. an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. Investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 17 year-old Salem woman for stealing $22 worth of merchandise. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. The merchandise was returned to Wal-Mart.

The Mark Twain National Forest has centralized fire dispatching duties out of the Supervisor’s office in Rolla. There is now a toll free number to report wildfires occurring anywhere on the Forest. This number should be used any time to report a wild fire on or threatening National Forest lands. The toll free number is (866) 800-8595. If this number does not work, please call (573) 201-4283.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Salem invite you to participate in the 2010 Christmas Parade entitled, “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” that will be held on Saturday, December 4th beginning at 5:30 pm. The parade is to provide a family friendly, fun, community activity that all can enjoy. The parade route runs from the old Fairgrounds (corner of South Grand and Franklin) to the Dent County Courthouse. Entry forms and rules are available at the Chamber office located at 200 South Main Street or by e-mailing them at chamber@salemmo.com and must be returned no later than Friday, November 26th. The Salem Lady Tiger Softball team had six players that received SCA awards, which was the most of any team. Receiving awards for the 1st Team were infielder Samantha Parker and outfielder Kaytlyn Wells. For the 2nd Team awards went to catcher Mackenzie Wulff, pitcher Cortney Putman and infielder Sierra Hagler. Infielder Leah Whelan received an Honorable Mention. Congrats to the Salem Lady Softball Tigers!

The Salem Boys and Girls basketball teams will be playing in their Blue and White game this Saturday night at 6:00 at the high school gym. The doors will open at 5:00 and there will be a chili supper and a bake sale, and T-shirts will also be on sale. Admission to the event will be bottled water or Gatorade. The cheerleaders will be introduced followed by Boys and Girls basketball teams from 7th grade to 12th grade. The community is invited to attend.

Marcel Goc scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout, lifting the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 win and handing the St. Louis Blues their first home loss of the season. Goc slid the puck inside the left post and past the outstretched pad of St. Louis' Jaroslav Halak to snap the Predators' five-game losing streak. Matt D'Agostini and David Backes scored in regulation for the Blues, who have lost two straight. Halak stopped 24 shots. The Blues will play the Phoenix Coyotes Saturday night at 7:00 on KSMO.

The Missouri Tiger basketball team will play their final exhibition of the year tonight against Arkansas-Fort Smith. The pre-game show starts things off at 6:30 on KSMO.

The Missouri Tiger football team will host Kansas State this Saturday starting at 11:30. Missouri has lost their last two straight games and stand at 7-2 on the year and 3-2 in the Big 12. You can hear the game on KSMO.

Two St. Louis Cardinals were honored with Silver Slugger awards yesterday. Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday picked up Silver Slugger Awards as the top hitters at their respective positions. It was the fourth outfield Silver Slugger for Holliday, who won from 2006-08 but not last year. For Pujols, it's the third straight and sixth overall. His last four have come at first base, and he also won the award as a third baseman and an outfielder.

Funeral service for Robert Dale of Salem, age 79, will be held Monday at 2:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel with full military honors. Visitation will be held Sunday night from 6:00 until 8:00. Internment will be at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church music ministry.

 Funeral service for Delmar M. Yoakum will be held Wednesday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be held Tuesday night from 5:00 until 7:00. Memorials are suggested to the family.

A Celebration of Life service for Sandra Kay Wilkerson of Salem, age 62, will be held Saturday, November 20th at 5:30 pm at the Spring Creek Golf Club. Memorials may be made to the Spring Creek Golf Club. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
